j-k Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 I have 175 members on the mailing list, and all have been e-mailed about the t-shirt poll, so there should be quite a few more votes to come. So out of these 175 people, who are actual REGULAR members. I dont want someone who maybe comes to a meet once a year choosing a club colour for us to wear.If they are only occasional members then they more than likely wouldnt have a t shirt anyway. I would think that a fair amount of those people have sold up and moved on, or if not , just are not bothered with the subaru scene! I think this will just add fuel to the debate regarding whether the poll is 'fixed' which I think is the general concensus on here - although how on earth I can 'fix' a poll is beyond me??!! No one has even mentioned it being "FIXED". That is not possible with the way the poll is set up(ie multiple voting etc). My point was that it is "flawed".... meaning its not a true representation of the actual vote of KS members! The poll stays, I think it is a fair way of choosing - and why would anyone other than KentScoobies members know about it, or even want to vote on it for that matter? This is a club for the members , run by the members, and shouldnt be your decision alone pele.We live in a democratic society .....majority rules... If you look at the forums, lots of other sidc members "pop in" now and again and post on our boards,as we do on theirs also. Personally I think we are insulting Foxs by not going with their colour choice, after all they are paying for some of the cost of the t-shirts, we should have taken the colour they chose and sayed with it, not bickered over it like a bunch of school children. Personally, i think YOU are insulting the members by going to fox's on your own and sorting the colour with them. As dean has already posted, colour CHOICES should have been made by the members and THEN offered to fox's for a decision. Fox's want us to be wearing a club shirt with their name on it, which is fine . At least let us choose the colour first democratically. Opinions is what we need on this issue, and lots of them...if the outcome is going to be fair and acceptable to the majority (because you will not please everyone). Jon
baser999 Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Thank you Jon - I think that sums up the whole situation very well!! Perhaps we should all be told what was discussed at that meeting at Foxs, not only with regard to the shirts, but anything else that may affect or benefit the club
Dalthegooner Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Why should Foxes choose the colour of the shirts? I appreciate the fact that they are sponsoring Kent Scoobies (Nice one Dean [Y]) But they are only paying part of the costs and in return they are getting free advertising on all the t-shirts we wear.
Wee Jock Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 That was my personal choice as well! Tho I have never been to a meet yet does that mean my voted should be invalid? Personal I will buy a 2 T-Shirts no matter what colour! (Ones for the wife, got to keep her happy)
j-k Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Why dont we just have Subaru colours blue & yellow? This has already been discussed....Its because we dont want to look the same as all of the other clubs...

deani_age Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Please note that this is not directed at anyone in particular, it is my contribution to an active thread. I have not been a member of Kent Scoobies for long, however I was impressed with the camaraderie I have found at the meets, and the hard work that Pele and others put into the KS Forum and meets. I find it hard to understand how a shirt could create as much debate as it has. Having an opinion is one thing, trying to force your opinion onto others, or worse insulting them is unacceptable. I would like to know if there is an alternative to a single colour shirt. Usually you have to pay for printing artwork, in addition to the cost of the shirt and printing. So it is possible to print/stitch the agreed design onto any T Shirt, Sweatshirt, Poloshirt etc....... I understand why some members want to colour code their shirt to match their car. I understand why some members think that to look like/be a club we need to wear the same colour shirt. Personally, I think the logo's will differentiate Kent Scoobies from other clubs, not the colour of the shirt. Maybe the vote could have included any colour of the members choice. Deani_age
baser999 Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Steady, we could have people agreeing on things and going all democratic [] I fear it won't last...............................
granby Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Just a quick observation, these 2 comments don't add up So out of these 175 people, who are actual REGULAR members. My point is Ian, that pele stated she had sent out 175 e mails to MEMBERS. There cannot possibly be that amount of Current ACTIVE members within the club. So anyone wishing to vote thats on the email list could do so.....having an effect on the final decision. That is why i said if the vote is public, ie on the forum, it can be checked by the members themselves, hence making this a democratic voting system. jon
tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 So basically what you are asking is that we do the poll again but this time with people adding there names and there choices for all to see?? This includes all members that have been Kentscoobies, even one who have just jioned and the ones who do not have internet access. If this is the case then maybe we should start the thread again and members add there name and the colour choice to a list. If this is the case and it is all out in the open do the club members agree to go along with the colour choice that is chosen , regardless of the colour ? I know not everyone will be pleased but as you say a majority will win. It will mean all the members will see who voted for what and then there will be no more bickering in the club.Hopefully then every body will be happier and the club shirts will get done. Only an idea but if we all agree then maybe a new thread should be made with names and choices only, this means no comments just your choice of colour and when it is all done the majority wins. Tony

SCOOBYTOO Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Tony. I think that is what most people want. Its in the open . If joe bloggs voted we will see his vote, this would then be a nul and void vote. Firstly we need to clarify the colours to be voted for, obviously red and white could stay off as JK said maybe put 3 or 4 popular colour combos and you vote for your 1st and 2nd choice then the highest number would get chose. Looking back at the original thread that was locked there seems to be other choices that members wanted. Stuart at Foxs was happy to go with the majority vote and I will speak to him again tomorrow to re iterate the state of play with the shirts as it was I that approached them in the first place. Dean.
tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Sounds good to me Dean, but all im asking is that we as a club agree to the majority vote even if it is not the colour you actually voted for, until we can do this a vote is worthless in any way . If the members can agree to that then a new thread with the colour choices should be started and people should add there vote but not make any comments about it, then what ever the majority vote is that is final .

Tony Well done Tony....thats exactly what i said on the original thread...THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FORWARD!! Choices agreed on the forum and then a voting system 1st and 2nd choice for each person. The majority will then win and everyone who voted will have had their chance. jon
tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 Lol finally we all agree on something lol So are we going to do it over a week again like last time ?? And first off what are the colour chioces we have primrose yellow and blue white with blue collar any others and then we can get the ball rolling again tony
j-k Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Sounds good to me Dean, but all im asking is that we as a club agree to the majority vote even if it is not the colour you actually voted for, until we can do this a vote is worthless in any way . the voting should conclude a final answer to the t shirt colour... At the end of the day, it will be a fair and democratic vote, so people who dont agree with the choice of the majority wont have to buy the shirt if they so desire... The last thing we want is a colour nobody really likes and only a handful of members wearing them.... jon
j-k Posted May 14, 2006 Author Posted May 14, 2006 Can we start a new thread then.....and make it a sticky for a week? And how about we lock the poll and put a link to this thread? If everyone is in agreement with that? jon
tony_cousins Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I think then maybe any other suggestions for a shirt colour should be added to this thread by say 10pm tonight then a new thread started with the nominated colours for us to vote on. That way everybody will get there say on the colour chioces before we start a new thread. Once the time is up the thread can be locked off meaning anybody can see the votes but cannot change them .
