IS THE T SHIRT POLL FLAWED?????

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have good reason to believe that the T shirt Poll is flawed!!!

Currently there have been 37 votes to decide a club colour scheme. I do not beleive that 37 members from KS have voted.

I believe that there have been votes from other members within the SIDC. Now i have no actual proof of this, but from looking at the activity of the KS members on the forum for the last few days, it is quite apparent that 37 different KS members have NOT been on line...So where have the votes come from???

Your opinions would be appreciated KS members...

If the vote turns out to be true, i will gladly go with the flow as to the choice of colour....

I am going to start a list of those who are happy to admit they voted...

Ian, can you please put a link to this post on the actual POLL thread(if you are also in agreement with this)

How do you join Kent Scoobies?

I may have been one of those who thought they were entitled to vote as a Memmber of SIDC living in Kent!

You dont have to officially join, just be part of OUR meets/Forum. The point i am making is that people from outside of KS COULD have been voting, just by visiting the forum from SIDC main site?

The moderators dont even know WHO has voted , the software just counts up the votes, giving each member 1 vote .

If we charged membership , we would open a whole other can of worms...

All i am asking is, iof you have voted please post on this thread saying so. That way we can decide if the poll is flawed?

me 4. but..............................

this should have been an open vote ie put the most popular choices down for voting and each member put  a b c d  in their post then you know who has voted and where from, at the moment half of sidc must have voted[:D]

I think a lot of the member who have voted are the ones who although they turn up to meets etc are not always active on the forums, also dont forget we have had around 15 new members join over the past few weeks.

I have had calls from four members who do not use the forums and because of work commitments have not been to meets for a while. They are yet to log on and vote .

maybe we should have everybody post there votes in to Pele and that way only KentScoobies members will get a vote??  Just an idea, you would have to put your choice and your name with no other info, if it was not a member then it could be thrown away.

Thats my point exactly....have they voted? if they are not active on the forums , then how have they managed to vote?

The vote should be made public on here, so that numbers can be verified by ALL members, not just one.

Putting the vote to Pele(or anyone else in particular for that matter) is no different to what we are doing now!

One of my original posts suggested that we should democratically decide a collection of options and then take a vote. Each person getting a first and second choice, that way the majority vote will win.chances are that if your first choice colour isnt picked the second choice will be. The last thing we want is for a colour to be picked and a fair chunk of the members not wanting to wear it. It will defeat the whole object of a CLUB shirt.

I voted. I agree with j-k in so far as there has been a lot of input on the poll lately , especially for the primrose option which at one point was lying a fair few points behind the white.  I see also that its now showing what option I picked - has it done that from the outset ? Does the system being used stop anyone from voting more than once? Apart from a show of hands theres not going to be a voting system thats not open to abuse.

I have 175 members on the mailing list, and all have been e-mailed

about the t-shirt poll, so there should be quite a few more votes to

come.  As for can you vote more than once, the answer is no you

can't - I already checked this before asking Ian to start the poll.

maybe we should have everybody post there votes in to Pele and that

way only KentScoobies members will get a vote??  Just an idea, you

would have to put your choice and your name with no other info, if it

was not a member then it could be thrown away.

I think this will just add fuel to the debate regarding whether the

poll is 'fixed' which I think is the general concensus on here -

although how on earth I can 'fix' a poll is beyond me??!!

I don't think it will matter what is done regarding the t-shirts,

there will always be someone who has something to say about it.  I

have already changed the way it is chosen once, and people wanted a

poll - now you all change your mind again!!!

The poll stays, I think it is a fair way of choosing - and why would

anyone other than KentScoobies members know about it, or even want to

vote on it for that matter?

Personally I think we are insulting Foxs by not going with their colour

choice, after all they are paying for some of the cost of the t-shirts,

we should have taken the colour they chose and sayed with it, not

bickered over it like a bunch of school children.

Im not bickering im going with the flow, but I know what is being said and at this rate we will never get these t shirts sorted out.  There will always be someone who will not like the colour !!!!!

Is it worth voting again because if we all do and somebody does not like the colour it will be for nothing ??

The other option so it is done without any chance of cheating and because not all people want there choices known, maybe we should ask Phil Stephens if he would take the votes and if there not Kentscoobies members he will know or maybe it can be done so only our members can go on the poll ???

Maybe we are no ment to have club colours [:)]

Well i placed my vote but like we all agreed I would go with the majority [Y]

One other point is that several members who do not have computer access would like to vote, but how can they ??

for example  White Warrior. Slowmo, Maverick, Tel, none have pc's at the moment [:)]

Hi All,

I,ve only been a member for 5months and was impressed with the way this club pulled together especially over the RBMR day, but i feel all the hard work is now being overshadowed by the sillyness of this bickering, i dont think there needs to be an open vote as its quite obvious who has voted what by the comments that are being made, I spoke to 5 scooby owners in the run up to the RBMR in both Dartford and Crawley and it certainly generated interest in the club, and 3 of them were definately going to sign up for kent scoobies as they were impressed with what we were doing, one of them has already posted on the forum, but in all honesty who will want to sign up for kent scoobies if they read the forums now.

This issue is over 3% of votes, it sounds rather silly when it is said like that, It is only t-shirts its not a massive important issue, certainly not one that is worth risking the reputation of a well run UNITED club.

There i had my say now, i feel much better.

I agree with Pele on this! If a company like Foxs are willing to come along and sponsor the T-Shirts then why dont we show some gratitude and use their colours and thats the end of it!

As usual you cant satisfy everyone all of the time and thats just human nature, I think a management descision should be made and it should be Foxs colours!

Thats fine, however, it was my belief following an earlier thread that white was the preferred main colour yet following Peles meeting with Foxs we were told that the chosen colour would be primrose which at that stage didn't gain universal approval. I accept that if Foxs are contributing towards costs then they should have some say, however surely it would have been better to have come back from that meeting and put their preferred choice to us, the club members who'll be wearing the shirts, rather than say that this is the final choice.  .

as seeing as i should of been there too anyway as it was i that approached foxs to gain sponsorship for sidc and ks. and i was in the process of attending to club shirts the findings at the time of which would have been put to CLUB members before a final decision was made.

Baser

you have valid points, how far do you take it?

As I said, I dont think you can keep everyone happy, if you didnt have a poll people complain, you've got a poll people complain, you get to choose colours people complain when your in Peles postion you cant win!

Pele works very hard for the club a lot of time and effort goes into everything she does for the club and I suppose peolpe just expect "thats what she does"

Sometimes its just better to have the managers descision as final say and thats the end of it!

We all have our opinions!

Well done in getting a sponsor!

If we're going to be told what to wear by way of club colour why go through all the earlier crap of asking what colours we'd p;refer - it seems that any feelings or opinions that the members had voiced were ignored at that meeting - democracy is alive and well in Kent Scoobies!!

Pele, I would like to ask why you have put that in your post, quite bizarre!

Unless it is my lack of english language ( and if so opps sorry ), I cannot see one post that suggests YOU!  personally have FIXED THE VOTING.

Jon was saying that the voting could not be right ( in his opinion ), considering the amount of ACTIVE MEMBERS we have, not the 175 ( excuse the term ) keyboard members. that turn up on the very odd occasion if at all!

I am a member of the 22B, NASOC etc etc, I can post on there sites and if I wanted, vote on there polls if they had them. In my opinion though that does not give me the right to do so as I am not an ACTIVE MEMBER, by this I mean, turning up at meets and getting involved in actual club issues.

As for the colour of the T-Shirts, who confirmed at Fox's that Yellow was the colour to be, was that there actual choice.

I am happy to go with the flow on the colour of the shirts ( as a club ) , although I do have my preference and it is by no meens YELLOW.

YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CANNOT PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME.
