scoobyfuzzy Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 right guys had the car on the test track tday so see wot ma scoob could do, problem is when i hit 130mph the car seemed as if it had hit the rev limiter or something, was a bit jumpy like it didnt wanna go any faster, boost was around 10 psi and wasnted sure wat the revs wher at but defo wasnt redlining, when it started bein a bit jumpy i backed off, the car was good for 140+ mph when i picked it up last year, any ideas wot the problem could be, ive been think for a while that the turbo is on its way out, would the turbo cause this? any ideas guys? cheers fuzzy
ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 What year and model is the car? what mods has it had done?

david_taylor Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 I am in no way a mechanic, but when I had a problem last week I went to hypertech. What you are describing sounds exactly what duncan was describing when he thought I might have a piston starting to go. He asked if it was flat spotting at speed or when pushing. I would get it straight to subaru or a jap specialist and get them to plug it in, plus to be safe, try not to boost. Better safe than sorry! Hope its nothing serious!
scoobyfuzzy Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 cheers mate, its never done it before, just as i hit 130mph, hard accelaration thru the gears n that is fine, no problems. fuzzy
david_taylor Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Just had another thought about that. Could possibly be a fuel problem, maybe a blocked injector or the fuel pump might be going. Total guess right enough!! Just thinking that it seems to be as you are getting to the top end, a piston problem would really be at any gear at high revs. Suppose its all guess work, I would get to a Subaru garage or awd/hypertech tomorrow if poss, for peace of mind if anything. I know I was well worried last week when I had a problem. Always think the worst with these things eh!
Wee Jock Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 Could be a coil pack breaking down under load or you could have blown a pipe(hose)! Could be lots of things tho, best to take it to the xperts! Try and stay off boost till you get it sorted tho, you dont want it to let go! good luck wee jock
