PECO Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Hello - another newbie! (kind of) Been a SIDC member for almost a year now joined when I got my first scooby last year - MY05 WRX. Have loved these cars since I was taken out in a classic back in 1998 - it's taken me this long to save up for one - well worth the wait! Unfortunately I was done by a mobile 'safety' van 2 weeks ago on my down to Newcastle for the weekend. Sunday morning, summers day, great visability and 3 empty lanes - caught doing 84mph! Feeling sorry for myself - drove the rest of way like Miss Daisy and on the way back home again! Am I just cynical or are these safety camera vans on empty motorways just cash cows? Was hoping to come along to the RB meet at Bothwell this Sunday to meet some of you guys - can anyone show up or do I need to register? Cheers.
st3ph3n Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Alright mate. You've missed the registration now, but feel free to come down anyway. I live in Bothwell as it is. Also - was caught speeding 2 months ago. M74 on a perfect day with no other traffic about. 92 I was clocked at though. Just got my licence back yesterday from Dumfries after sending it down last week to get my points put on. Feckers.
PECO Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 The car is WR Blue - wanted something different from everyone else! Have fitted a TSL Grp N backbox and a set of Prodrive flaps - car is standard otherwise.

I haven't sent back my form yet declaring the driver I take it I wont get anymore than 3 points / £60 fine?
4Hero Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 welcome Peco, Alright mate. You've missed the registration now, but feel free to come down anyway. I live in Bothwell as it is. Not that I know, I only get points for parking in pedestrian crossings in Edinburgh []
st3ph3n Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 It was 3 and 60 for my sins. First time I've been caught. Which is surprising actually.
sti pretender Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 I was caught last year down near Carlisle. 3 and 40 for 81mph. Most annoying thing is that there were a couple of bikes had pasted just before but didn't slow down as they can't get done. If the government really cared about speeding the wouldn't just go after the car driver. Quite agree cash machines not safety.
dan_jess Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Welcome m8! Shame about getting caught, but u will speed! [] Just kidding, get a pic of ur car up on the forum bud! []
PECO Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 Thanks for all the comments - speeding fine was probably overdue anyway - that will teach me! Believe it or not I don't have a digital camera, still use one of the ones with film! Will get one of my mates to take a few photos of the car and post them on the forum.
john mac Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Don't send anything back to the thieving scamera people until you have visited www.pepipoo.com for top advice on dealing with these parasitic cameras! That site saved me 3 points and £60 last year when i got nabbed for an alledged [] 81 mph on a dual carriageway. Remember you have rights ,dont let their bluff and bluster letters deter you.
