chris_c201 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Folks, Driving home tonight, after about 10 miles i am coming off a roundabout and floor it in 2nd, hold til about 6500 and jus as i shift up to 3rd i get a CEL.... Car is still running fine, still getting boost although i only went to about 3500rpm's just in case.... Any idea's, how do i find out what threw it up? Cheers Chris
fai17 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Go to Halleys and see gordon Gray and ask him to check it on the Select.
Rice Rocket Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I've had my cel on for 4 yrs, full decat brings it on, filter might, does the car stall at all? maybe the neutral position senor, EGT sensor, lamda or crankshaft senor! Hope you get it fixed. RR
chris_c201 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Car isn't de-catted (yet).... if it is a lambda sensor what are the implications? Car is running totally fine, no different at all.....
Rice Rocket Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I would just get up to a scooby garage and get them to stick it on the slect monitor and find out whats wrong. RR
chris_c201 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Guess thats really my only option..... its £27.50 plus VAT to get it plugged in.... Is this the only place i can get it done? May be clutching at straws here but could it be worth resetting the ECU to see whether it throws it up again?
chris_c201 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Ok booked in to Halley's for 1:30 tomorrow...... i'll try not to drive much until then just in case..... (and off boost)
chris_c201 Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 And its now gone........... [8-)] I'm gonna leave it and see, if it pops up again i'll defo get it read ASAP....
colin_ross Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Don't AWD do a check FOC for members at open days (like on the 22nd April)? Or am I thinking of someone else?
dougster Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Yes, Swanie will do that free check for SIDC MEMBERS []
andy_robertson Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 ive had this engine light on on my car a few times, have you had it re-mapped? mines has and sometimes when pushin it on high boost and at night i was gettin it, it was coming on and off now and again had my car checked and it was showing misfires but the car was running fne ive a wrx and i have an STI 8 intercooler and was gettin too much air had the fuel pump uprated and its seems to have stopped
chris_c201 Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Is AWD in Perth? Yes Dougster i know i need to get joined up properly, nice hint!! [] Arron, Mine isn't remapped, only thing i've done recently is remove the intake resonator and put in a cold air feed from the inner wing, wonder if its related!?!??!
andy_robertson Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 you might need to uprate your fuel pump as the fuel/air ratio may be settin the light on
ed-209 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 If your attending the Glasgow meet tomorrow, I will bring along a Laptop and OBDII Reader. and can read from most Scoobys 98 onward. I will not charge you anything but a token donation to the RB fundrasing would be welcome. Ed

fai17 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 It wouldn't cost you anything if i take you along to Halleys...but beer tokens would be good[]
chris_c201 Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 You popping to the Glasgow meet tonight Peter??
Rice Rocket Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 It more than likely be your cold air feed giving a mis reading. Best to get it checked out, mine flashed 15 times thins morning, go tomorrow to get it checked out. Ricey
fai17 Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 You popping to the Glasgow meet tonight Peter?? Sorry but i'm working. You still need to collect your prize.[]

D8UGF Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Mate you can do it yourself. http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co.uk/Sco...Diag%20Page.htm Tells you how to connect the wires under the dash and then how the flashes work, long flash= 10 short flash=1 so two long and 3 short=23 then look up the fault codes on that site. Hope this helps Dougie
chris_c201 Posted April 7, 2006 Author Posted April 7, 2006 Think that only works for classics mate..... thanks anyway tho....
