Gumball Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I was reading through this site below and looking at all the laser jammers, detectors, speed cameras, law, actions you can take to escape being convicted and police comments about all of the above. I thought a few times when reading the site over the last hour perhaps about posting up a link for a jammer or a gps gadget or various other things that would help us if we were going to fast. The link below offers no help for going to fast other than not doing it to begin with, which if we are ALL honest with ourselves................we ALL ignore at some point and take the car above the mandatory 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or 100. Here is the one link/page that personally drives home (excuse the pun) the real dangers of thinking A) we are a bit wide and maybe better than we are we can go fast and everything will be OK C) both of the above Heres the link-http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/death1.htm
paul_honthy Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 The company i work for has the police contract for recovering vehicles which have been involved in accidents and believe me when u have to work besides a motor that has been involved in a fatallity it really hits home just how easy it is to loose your life oir anothers by pushing it to hard. Even the cars brought in that have been involved in low speed crashes are in some mess, and im not talking about old escorts or nova's im talking mercs, bmw's and even a few scoobs. Food for thought.
G.T. Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 being a retained firefighter, ive attended quite a few fatal RTC s and its not nice for everyone involved, ive done that for 11 years now and i always get a horrible feeling every RTC i have to go to.
paul_young2 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Yes we all hit the loud pedal now and then, and as a fulltime firefighter of over 23 years i have seen plenty! BUT i have to say speed is a big factor but many other things make a difference. I have had to cut a scooby and its quite a strong car,its the small old cars with usually young women driving flat out that make me cringe !, they have no chance in a impact. A great big factor now is drink or drugs ,bad road conditions, unroadworthy cars, angry driving, drivers now even cut you up driving under blue lights. REMEMBER hindering the emergency services can cost lives be considerate drivers. Rant over PS i still love driving but with safety in mind
