TMIC Technical question for my MY05 WRX

Question - the WRX TMIC - what is it rated to?

When I get my changes made - Panel Filter, Decat, Remap will I be held back by the standard WRX TMIC? Would an STI one give me better performance, increase safety margins etc. etc.?

I have no intentions of doing any more mods past what I've said above. No headers. No uprated turbos etc. etc. etc. so I'm not looking to spend money on something I don't need.

Shouldn't think so. Yes the STi is slightly bigger but as long as you are not increasing the boost too much shouldn't be a problem. Best thing to do is have a chat with who ever maps your car and see what they think after it has been mapped.

Agreed, its a question of boost, core volume of intercooler and associated charge temps.  The WRX intercooler has a  reasonable core volume which enables a good flow of air and also allows sufficient cooling.  The STI sized one may provide benefit during hot summer months at certain boost levels, but at the levels which you will be able to go to it will not affect you!

You'll need a bigger turbo before you need a bigger IC in my opinion i.e the TD04 would be fine with a WRX IC......so you should be safe

He had touted said wares to me. It's a good price, and openning my bonnet and seeing STI on the Intercooler is certainly worth a few quid. But I just can't justify it.

I'll get some pink paint and just draw it on!
