irish al Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 To date my number plates have cost me a total of £120 in fines from Fife Police. After being stopped again today by a police minibus [] and fined I have given up and legal plates to the letter of the law are now on the car. Both the copper and the guy in the local garage told me Fife police were clamping down on illegal numberplates. The guy in the shop had someone in last week who also got fined £30 for each plate. Suppose Ive just been unlucky but i doubt it as i had them on my last cars and never got stopped once in over ten years of driving for illegal numberplates. Al
vicki Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Bet its because its a scooby [:^)] I am just waiting to get stopped any day now for mine!
STi_Bandit Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Sorry to hear that mate, i was looking at getting a number plate and making the spacing illegal but ended up not going for it. I know a few people that carry legal sets in the boot and if they are pulled over just put the legal set on for the officer Martin
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 What alot of crap mate [] Where i stay you always see big s****y 4x4's etc poncing about with front tints, illegal plates etc and you never see them get pulled. Pointed this out to the traffic when i got lifted and their answer was "oh well if we see them we will obviously do something". Yeah, my ar$e they will!!!!!! Like what has been said, a hell of alot of it has to do with what you drive [:@] w***ers
st3ph3n Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I pass a car every other day or so, an old astra, that has proper script style writing for the plates. I can't actually work out what the registration is! Why aren't these jokers getting done?
derek_mair Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Well am onto the 11th time being stopped by coppers since I've had my scoob (only 7 months) most of that was for my registration plates as well, I got about £90 worth of fines, they don't have anything better to do with their time........
fai17 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Please learn from your mistakes as it's not worth getting done for dodgy plates.Just my opinion. I have a private plate that i have shortened but not altered the numbers and haven't beed stopped. It's not worth the fines m8.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Buy an import then you can have 64mm lettering [] job done!!!
G.T. Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 yeah id say that was an expensive mistake al 1st time i ever get pulled for anything dodgy it would be getting taken off tout suit they probably just pulled you again because you hadnt changed them
oz *sti* Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Yep I would have to agree with Vicki and Andy it comes down to what we drive.
sharon_mccall Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 That's pants Al. [:@] Bloody expensive plates they've turned out to be. []
Baz81 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 It is purley down to the car mate.. Feds are just jealous ! Andy, I would have thought that changing your car would be the more expensive option ? lol. JDM Scoob £14,000 - 64MM lettering plates £15 - Look on the coppers face when he realises the can't do a thing about it, Priceless...
lescazscoob Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 poor al? we have not had any bother with being pulled by fife police but our no plate is standard? you should join fife cruisers and come along to some of our meets the traffic police liason guys are pretty sound (for doing what they do?) and can help you with advice and ways round things! but bet im not saying that when i get turbo the speeding tickets will be piling up lol!!
