Rough idle on a type r

my 1998 sti type r dosent want to sit at a steady idle could this be maf sensor on its way out.first thing in the morning car starts and runs ok then starts to play up almost cuts out.if this is a maf sensor problem where and how much do they cost edinburgh area.

I was also having this problem last week on my type r, got a new maf fitted on friday then had a major prob with the car on Saturday but dont think this was related to that. MAF sensors are about £80 and you can fit it yourself in about 10 mins.

Dealers will have then in stock I would think.

Don't know if this help but I had the same issue on my classic UK Turbo and thought that I could be something sensor related.  Until last wkend I was having a look about the engine and noticed that a vacum pipe was not connected.  Popped it back in and presto, issue fixed.

The simple answer are sometimes the right ones.

The MY99/00 were about 90 quid but the earlier ones inc. mine on my MY97 STi 4 come in at £200. Lucky I'm selling one at 1/2 that price [:D]
