wrxmania Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Fitted an STI gear surround today I got from STI_Bandit. Had to use STI surround (it is drilled and routed for it), remove gear gaiter and gearknob from the WRX, take it from the frame it is glued to and re-glue to the STI frame, before bolting back into the surround. A bit footery but looks much better - breaks up the dash a bit. Phone photo's in the garage - sorry. Brian []
st3ph3n Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Get a prodrive gear knob on there too Brian. MUCH nicer looking and a far better feel than the standard WRX one. Except when it's a really cold morning.
ally-b Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Except when it's a really cold morning. For your sake St3ph3n - DON'T mention gloves [] [] Al.
wrxmania Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 Got an alu knob for it but don't like it as much, less grip, not comfortable in my hand and clicks off my wedding ring constantly. Got it in the Primera...may put the standard knob back in. Mmmmm, not sure. Brian []
STi_Bandit Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Looks great brian, hope you didnt use some of the words i used when i was fitting it to my car. Sorry to hear you didnt like my alu knob which felt less comfortable in your hand and had less grip. Martin
st3ph3n Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Cheeky! The prodrive knob, which the wonderful HI Soob supplied for me, seems to have a special coating on it which makes it quite grippy. It has a lovely weight to it compared to the old one too. And it's proper bling.

BTW Brian looks good, well done. Spooks
wrxmania Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 ALRIGHT!!!! Maybe I'll put it in the Impreza. I'll see - [] Just washed the car, used the Meguairs "Hot Wheels" and their wheel brush to clean some long-lived crap off the wheels (almost). AND NOW IT'S POURING DOWN!! Brian []
spooks Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Never even managed to get my car out to wash it this weekend and its filthy............. I swear everytime I think of cleaning my car it rains. Spooks
STi_Bandit Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 i use the same excuse for cleaning the house " oh look top gear is on, ill do it later"
st3ph3n Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Brian, what did you think of the Hot Wheels? I get great results with it and a really really soft wheelbrush from Halfords. Just make sure to hose for ages because it left some marks on the driveway the first time I used it.
