2559B Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Just wondering who actually uses a dealer to service there car ??? & how important is a full SUBARU service history ??? IMO - If I owned a new model that was still under warranty then I would probably use a dealer in order to keep the warranty valid. However , since I own an older model with modifications & no warranty ... I've chosen the private garage option simply because I can get the car serviced with the same parts but it will cost alot less. What's the general opinion on servicing ??? Ally.
4Hero Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Full Dealer history for me for the past 5-6 years. Can't complain about Nobles at all.
Johnny50 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Cant say i`ve bothered with dealer history with my last one, as it never had a full history, so took it to a specialist. However, my current wagon has a full dealer history, so may consider keeping it up, even though i just plan to run this scoob to the ground and not push it on. Something to think about though...
paul_honthy Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I would be more likely to buy a scoob that had a sevice history from the likes of Greers than a Dealers but thats just my opinion[]
sma01 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 dont use dealer for mine mate, it goes to Hypertech.... scott
Johnny50 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Have to agree with Scott there.. If i were looking at buying an older car, and it had been looked after by places like Greer, Hypertech etc.. I`d be more than happy with that as proof of good servicing. Not that i`m saying that a dealer wouldnt give you the same level you understand.
RA Dunk Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 dealer probably would give you the same level but would charge you twice as much []
Baz81 Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Hey Guy's.. just some info for you. A full dealer history doesn't make any difference to selling a car (In terms of value) as long as it has a full history and it is done when the dots and TT's say so. So I would go for the none dealer option (Even though I work in the trade), Specialist that deal with tuned cars take more care and pride as its the rep on the line ! As for your warranty, Due to block excemption law change in Oct 03, if your car is registered after this date you do not need to have your car serviced at a dealer and you would still have a warranty, it just wouldn't cover normal servicing items unless it was serviced at an Authorised Subaru repairer using Original Subaru parts, which is becoming more common for all Makes of car.. (Not everyone knows this) And if anything did go Pete Tong on your car they need to prove that the part failure occurred because it wasn't serviced by a Dealer.. [8-|]

swanie Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Hi there We have been told different from I.M As for the issue with them it's Fuji heavy industrys who make the cars that give you year 1 and I.M do years 2+3 if years 2-3 have not been done at a appointed dealer then your warranty is up for question ?????? We have had no problems with this and will service all cars at any age and would contest subaru if they were not going to warranty a customers car. (Excluding boost modified cars) hope this help a wee bit
neilswrx Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 dealer would not touch mine as its an import probably just as well referance the prices a main dealer would charge
Fee Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I service mine myself....and keep everything I do all recorded on a nice spreadsheet thingy that Adam made up for me. Keep and receipts, dates and milage
scott_coull Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I use a deealer as its been servcied by them from day one and when I bought the car it was still under warranty so I kept up the Dealer servicing. After warranty ran out I continued to use the dealer as I found out that some specialists charge slightly or more or the same as the dealer. (Im not disputing the level of service offered isn't better or worse between Dealer/specialist). I currently use Eden Subaru for Servicing in Cupar who are more than competative for servicing, do a damn fine Job and its closer to me than then next nearest specialist. Speak to Russel if giving them a call. Top bloke. Howvere saying that if Im getting mods done that the dealer can't carry out then the car goes upto AWD Motorsport in Perth for the work to be done. (See you in march guys) Coulster
