bigbadboab Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Would the remaining warranty on my car cover the alloy wheels pitting? It is quite bad on all 4 wheels, on the majority of the spokes. It is going in for 30k service tomorrow and will ask then as well. Just after the opionion of you guys and girls, and why would this happen to a 2 year old car?[8-)]
gus the bus Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Doubt it mate tbh. They will blame it on poor maintenance. Worth a bash tho[] Gus PS will you pick your splitter up the morra if its in? ......or I can get it when I pass in the afternoon (since I have your cash!!!)
willie Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 mmm that has been happening on my STi7 type UK since month six of me owning it. No was the answer I got from the dealer. Good luck...
bigbadboab Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 Not looking promising then. If it is happening to other wheels, then surely there is an issue here??? I will make some noises 2mrw. Gus, makes sense for you to pick it up as you have MY cash
gus the bus Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Will do! ....if its in![] PS did ya get ma pm? Gus
G.Mac Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Mine are starting to go as well and mine is only a year old. Had the same sort of problem with my RX8 wheels but Mazda changed them no questions asked, even on cars 2 yrs old (even if they were kerbed as long as the corrosion was in the ctr part of the wheel inc spokes). I cant be sure as I dont have any of my old documents but I think Mazdas are sold through International Motors but dont quote me on that (poss thats why after sales service from both companys is CRAP) Graeme
Baz81 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Boab, Graeme's right. As long the paints no flacking round the edges where Mr kerb sinks his teeth into then they should replace them as they are faulty.. BBS supplied wheels for the mark 4 Golf GTi Annivery model and we're still replacing them 5 years later.. Don't take no for an answer !! Baz.
dave_morgan Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Will probably depend on whether you've got a dump valve fitted !!!
ScoobyAndy Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Will probably depend on whether you've got a dump valve fitted !!! LOL true. Just make your mouth go m8. Any dealer that really cares about customer service will attempt to do something about it.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I managed to get Honda to replace all four of my CTR alloys two years sgo and caused a stampede to the dealers as others followed suit [] Dunno what the Subaru dealers will say but digital photos as your passport for success. CGS
bigbadboab Posted February 13, 2006 Author Posted February 13, 2006 Just dropped the car at Ian Grieves for 30k service. Was advised to take digi pics so they can send to Headoffice. I will do so and be my usual motormouth and hopefully get a result. If I get a result, then it should pave the way for everyone else. Faulty Japanese Goods for the British Climate ie: salt
Baz81 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Don't forget to hit them with your a loyal customer and to brand... Repeat buisness is what manufacturers all want...
ed-209 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Thats what Charles at Iain Grieves told me as well, I had paint flaking from a front wheel now flaking from 2 wheels near the wheel bolt holes, I sent the digital photos, that was a couple of weeks ago, still heard nothing. The car is only 7 months old and this started at about 5 months old. So if you hear anything please post so the rest of us can chase it up too. Ed.
