FastScooby Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Booked in to get the geometry done with the new ALK fitted tomorrow.. Hopefully mass difference with the new shocks fitted as well
FastScooby Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 ALK is now fitted, what a difference [] Pro-grip tomorrow
st3ph3n Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 ALK is on my list. Does the car feel more planted when giving it a bit o'stick?
FastScooby Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 only done about 3 miles on then [].. but feels better.. going out now to give it a thumping.. wont really find out till after 1pm the morra if it has made a drastic improvement. But a lot better with the kayaba gas struts with whiteline springs and the ALK on [] Let you know if i fall off the road later [:S]
st3ph3n Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Are your fillings getting rattled to feck with all that? Mine is relatively stiff with the Teins and the whiteline droplinks. More planted than Alan Tichmarch's garden though.

FastScooby Posted February 10, 2006 Author Posted February 10, 2006 back from pro-grip with the new setup...(prodrive) a lot better than what it was like before.. just taken it a blast up the wellwood to powmill road the fastest i have been up there and felt happy 95% of the time. Think the front end could be tighter but pleased nonetheless
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I cant wait till tomorrow as my car is in Hypertech at the moment having Whiteline a/l/k, front and rear links, a/r/b's and inner steering rack ends replaced, then its off to Pro-grip in the morning for the prodrive settings[]
sma01 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Des, was round there a wee while ago speaking to Dunc about the next item on the wish list, the links and ALK are on the car ready to go tomorrow morning, battery strap is also on the car now too[] scott
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Good stuff m8, i will give him a call at lunchtime and see how he's getting on[]
chris_c201 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Des, What time you in Pro-Grip in the morning?? I'm booked in for 9 to get a full geometry / alignment setup done!
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I'm not sure m8 Duncan is taking it along, i left the car with him yesterday lunchtime, i was getting new inner steering rack ends fitted so i thought if the alignment has got to be done anyway i might as well get all the whiteline gear at the same time, i think he was fitting goodridge braided brake line too[]
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Just thought its today my car is in pro-grip[*-)]
chris_c201 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Enough of all your mods..... your making me jealous, lol My tyres were burning the insides more than outsides and i jus got 4 new tyres so thought i better get a full setup done, if i could stretch my budget i would have went for the droplinks but i'm pratted! I'll keep an eye out for your car when i'm in then!
Gumball Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 ---------felt happy 95% of the time.------------- You need to feel happy 100%. dont learn the hard a nd costly way
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I cant wait to feel what the difference is like with the alignment done, it was miles out with the rack ends knackered. Next on the list an AP clutch as mine is starting to slip when cold or at high revs[]
chris_c201 Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 I'm kinda curious to see how much of a difference i notice as well. My car is completely standard for suspension but i'm pretty sure the alignment and toe / camber must be pretty guffed tho..... What car you got Des?
des_curran Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Ye am desperate to find out the difference too, my car is a MY02 sti type uk.
FastScooby Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 how did you's get on with your cars?.. any better []
des_curran Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 The handling is great now, before it would wander a bit because of the wear in the rack ends, but with that fixed and the a/l/k and links and tracking done it is amazing the steering is so sharp, no under steer now and the car feels so tight[] I got new front and rear ebc drilled/grooved/vented discs and mintex 1155 pads fitted last week and the brake seemed great, but yesterday i got braided hoses and new fluid and now they are just amazing[] Cheers Duncan as normal a job well done[]
FastScooby Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 Great to hear... getting the Rear ARB fitted next week along with new bushes.. might be able to squeeze the front ARB as well.. depending on funds
des_curran Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 I had the A/R/B's done on my old scoob and they made it feel tighter still[] next on my list is an ap clutch and lightened flywheel, hopefully end of next week or the week after if Duncan can fit me in as the pedal is right up before it bites.
des_curran Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 What bushes are you changing ? I'm thinking of doing the axle mounts and diff mounts.
FastScooby Posted February 11, 2006 Author Posted February 11, 2006 canny remember the ones that duncan said on the phone yesterday .. but they were about £15.. think it was the rear axle bushes [:S] will ask when he phones back on monday
chris_c201 Posted February 11, 2006 Posted February 11, 2006 Got mine done this morn... Apparently it looks like it had been kerbed as the rear camber was way off and so was the alignment, all sorted now though! [] Had my gf with me so it was a nice relaxed drive home (gutted!) but it still felt tighter... I'll report my findings later after a wee blast, won't be as noticeable as you guys as it is just a standard setup but still nice to know its all tip-top.. Would deffo recommend pro-grip, great service, nice guy who shows you what he's doing and explains it so even numpties like me understand!!
