wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Well, Spent the day (seems a LONG day) cleaning my car - just meant to spend 10 minutes giving it a quick wash (in the pouring rain), ended up cleaning the wheels in several stages, then in the garage all night, looking at how poor the paint was getting - really flat (lots of salt ruining wax), so THE TIME HAD COME Oh no!!! Out came the Swissol Paint Cleaner, to strip the wax and crap off, tar, minor scratches etc. After spending ages covering the car, then polishing it off, it was time to wax the car, then polish that off. In the process I took off my fog light surround (badly stone chipped, and the Prodrive fog light protector were FILTHY and you can't clean them without removing the fog light surrounds etc). The fog light protector broke in the process - I said "great - they were filthy anyway - BIN"... Hopeless design really. After the tyres were given the black treatment, the wiper arms the same, and some black plastic bits too, I replaced the wipers, and the rear number plate bulbs with Phillips blue vision (one was out) - look great now. Stood back and took a few dodgy phone camera photo's...here they are: The Swissol stuff has lasted AGES - yes its' expensive but the kit I bought two years ago is still at least half full and I have applied the wax to the Impreza (and the Primera and others) at least a total of 15 times. Its easy to apply, when the car is cleaned (without all the prepping of today), you really can wax and buff it in less than half an hour. It then has to be left for at least 3 hours in the sunlight - but waiting for that - I'd be as well not bothering... Brian
vicki Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 looking good i love the swissol stuff, it smells good enough to eat
spooks Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 You missed a bit Brian Shiny Lovely......want to do mine???? Spooks
st3ph3n Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Looks good Brian. I'm currently contemplating getting the swissol cleaner fluid out too. Got a few deepish stone chips I might get looked at first. I remember the night after I did it I was wrecked. Never worked so hard in my life.
wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Thanks Vicki - and Spooks....and Stephen.... Missed lots of bits - but hey - its cleaner than this: And CERTAINLY cleaner than this
wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 << Your phone is p***. Fact. >> Lol - all four were taken on my phone - the first three by flourescent light at 11:30PM - that may not help... B
st3ph3n Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Mine is MOCKIT right now. The weather and illness have conspired against me cleaning it, or even raising these damn mudflaps since it was dropped too.
paddy247 Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Looks good, Any of you guys used the supaguard cleaning kit?
dougster Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Supaguard is a protector and not a cleaning kit. It adds a barrier to paint, alloys and seats. Sma01 is selling kits REAL cheap.
vicki Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Paddy is that the stuff you put on to protect your paintwork? Think I read about it on another thread and it sounded good but a bit tricky to do yourself or am I talking rubbish If it is the stuff I am thinkin of, I would like to try it edited to say "i am such a slow typer, my question is now answered" lol
paddy247 Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Cheers for that, wasnt sure, seemed loads of stuff in the kit, got offered it mega cheap too.
wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Its' easy to apply if you know what you re doing - contact SMA01 - he has 15 kits for sale and will apply them too. WAY WAY cheaper than getting it done @ a dealer.
wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Another coat of Swissol tomorrow - AND THEN IT NEVER LEAVES THE GARAGE TO GET DIRTY AGAIN!!!!!
john_robertson Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 << Minted >> Ahh the alter ego is back. John.
wrxmania Posted January 29, 2006 Author Posted January 29, 2006 Some daylight pictures, bad light, but after the second coat and polish of Swissol Samurai Wax - great stuff. My hands smell like the "Body Shop" though Also, dismantled half the dash to removed rattles, squeaks, clips shaking, wires wobbling. Its not very neat and tidy behind the dash compared to some cars. I hope I have found most but things like the Origin B2 rattles in its' cradle etc. Its' too clean now, need to gt it back in the garage and leave it there for a week...not!!!! Brian
john_robertson Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 << >> Quick some b'tard has spray painted your bumper. John
RS Grant Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 lol @ John!! I actually dreamt that I bought this car for 3k last night, it had 157k miles on it and was still gleaming!! Hahaha, bit of a weird dream wasnt it, dunno why I just shared that with you all?! Cheers, Grant
sma01 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 The supagard is not complicated to apply, but if required I will arrange this too for anyone who is interested, or if you want to do it yourself it will work out cheaper as you will just have to pay for the kit. £30 plus P&P. this price is very cheap and once they are gone its unlikely I will get any more for a while. There has been some interest already, so if you want one, let me know so I can keep track of it.... cheers scott
