paul_honthy Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 any idea people which is gonna be the cheaper option for a gearbox on anSTI3?Sure the synchromesh is on it's way and after a heated talk with warranty people looks like im gonna have to pay with it out of my own pocket.Obviously with the box out i might aswell upgrade the clutch but not sure which is gonna be the cheapest,get the box stripped and rebuilt or try and source a refurbished one.Any help much appreciated.
graham_nairn Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I got my box Re-conditioned with new parts. 3rd/4th gear sets went plus the bearings. I got mine done at a dealer and didn't have much change out of 1k. At the time got an uprated clutch and flywheel from Rodger Clark.

paddy247 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 It wont be cheap anyway, you could also change the box to a uk or wrx one and put in the apropriate rear diff also.
