irish al Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Am itching to get over the 300BHP mark with my car without changing the turbo. Any suggestions how i may get the extra 10-15 BHP. Thought about sti intercooler and scoop with water spray !!!! but not sure if this would help or just keep things cooler..
dougster Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Injectors, IC and induction kit with remap? Not cheap for a few extra ponies? Who cares with that torque figure anyway.
imprezapete Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 APS cold air induction kit and and Sti intercooler, scoop and undertray. i think that should put you over 300 mark
Gumball Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 aye, either just get a cold air induction with a feed through the fog or pick up a sti turbo from fleebay and get andy to tweak the map for a few quid sorted get it mapped with octane booster in it is something you could do also
irish al Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 I was looking at an sti intercooler on ebay but its up at £510. Must be some mad scots man bidding on it
wrxmania Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Very true! It must be... Pick up an STI turbo or get Andy to do you a lovely exchange turbo.
higgy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Al wat is the curant state of tune as i am running at 289 bhp and 298 lbft acording to dasteks rollers.my next upgrades are sti injectors, bigger fuel pump,tdo5 with18 g conversion and acording to the doc that should be good for around 380bhp and lbft higgy

irish al Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 You got nothing else to do now Doug As above higgy.
dougster Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Aye, pour another drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought ye were offline mate.
higgy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Al what is the bore of your exhaust as mine is ristricting top end power so i need 1 other thing....... a three inch systom that is not too loud as the nabours called the fuzz last week. higgy
higgy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 oh and another thing since you changed the headers and up pipe have you had any problems with the exhaust gas temp sender flaging up the engen managment light . higgy
irish al Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 Not sure but i think its a 3" downpipe with 2.5" after that. Never had any problems with exhaust gas temp, touch wood.
higgy Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 unfortunatly we r both at the limits of our turbos in there standard form and it is not economical to mod them as you be aswell upgrading to a 18g or 20g tdo5 for a few more bob higgy
weeb Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 strip the interior and add go faster stripes!! apparently that is worth 50bhp! i was lucky enough to shat my engine and inherit a secrect weapon breaking the 300bhp barrier! fuel pump, regulator, headers, turbo, bigger injectors and the andy f touch will see you WELL over 300bhp! not to mention a much smaller bank balance!
andrew_forrest Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 For an additional 20bhp you could go for the hybrid conversion based on your existing TD04, the advantage here is that it retains a very wide power band and instant response for back road blasts. For +40/50 the 05-16 or for +60/80 05-18 Andy
higgy Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 there you go Al spend the money and beat me to it>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lol higgy
mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 << Am itching to get over the 300BHP mark with my car without changing the turbo. >> Hey man. Have often wondering a similar thing with my scoob! I think my plan was to try and improve the overall response of the car with a few lightened parts such as the Flywheel and drive pulley, turbo hose and also was going to go for a STi or similar sized top mount intercooler to replace the OE one on my classic, however all of this will happen when i can afford Was not sure if it would increase the bhp enough after a remap to take you over the 300bhp, to be honest mate i recon just change the turbo and remap as most other things end up costing you similar money anyway plus you get more bhp for ya money!
