pobiom Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Cret, where can you get wheels coloured over here as wouldn't mind getting mine changed from gold.
Dave K Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Michael, go to Autocrash they do the best work on alloys that I have seen over here. Just to add this is spraying not powder coating which is how most alloys are done from the factory, hence why I?m waiting to sort mine in the UK as no one on island can do powder coating to an acceptable level.
Cret Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 Does powder coating have to be done on bare metal or can it be done over existing coats & stick well? Hmmm, could get my brother to anodise them but he hasn't got containers big enough and it'd cost rather a lot I suspect! Not sure who to ask really but will be at least a few weeks yet. Maybe I should just get some cans of Holts so I can patch it up when I inevitably kerb them!
grant_morris Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Cret, I'd guess you're less likely to kerb those rims as they don't stick out so much.?
Cret Posted January 5, 2006 Author Posted January 5, 2006 Yes there is that I suppose. And the fact I intend to be very careful with them because once they're painted they'll really suit the car.
Dave K Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 << Does powder coating have to be done on bare metal or can it be done over existing coats & stick well? >> I think it has to be stripped to the bare metal, as powder coating is an electrolytic process.
andy_bray Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 << Not sure who to ask really but will be at least a few weeks yet. Maybe I should just get some cans of Holts so I can patch it up when I inevitably kerb them! >> Be done with it Jim !!! Sell them to me, I will look after them....
grant_morris Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Damn....Knew I should have held out and started a bidding war.
