Hi all, not a real regular to this sight, but i was after some advice ?

My scooby has now reached 60,000 miles and i know it is due a bit of a serivce, bigger than the normal ones. I am aware it needs new spark plugs, but i have read in some magazines that you can actually buy ones that may enhance performance...is this true and if so can anyone recommend any decent ones ??

Also wouldnt mind getting some decent oil in it, any ideas ??

and lastly, where do i go next for modifications, i now have full decat, air inductionand uprated fuel pump. Is uprated boost, re-map and a front mount a good step up ?

any info would be greatly appreciated

regards

Hi Phil,

That'll be one of the expensive services then, with the cambelt change.....

NGK spark plugs are a good upgrade, platinum ones, not sure of the number tho, but I'm sure someone will be along to add to this anyway. As for oil, Silkolene is one of the best, but I think you'll find also one of the most expensive face-icon-small-confused.gif

A remap will up the boost, and front mounts are good for upping power as long as you don't mind cuttung up you bumper, although I do believe there are now smaller ones available so you don't have to do this - also you may want to think about upgrading the turbo as that will give you a bit more power too face-icon-small-smile.gif Don't forget tho, the more you upgrade, the more strain you put on your gearbox & clutch, look at Imprezyou's post, it's just cost him 2.5k for a new gearbox !!!!

Hope this is helpful, and as I said before, someone is bound to add bits or correct me face-icon-small-tongue.gif

60000 mile sevice on mine was when I should have got all the fluids changed on mine, diif, gearbox, brakes etc so a bit bigger than normal. I've had conflicting views on the cambelt mileage but have been told for mine 45000, 90000 etc or every three years, that'll be about 3 months for meface-icon-small-sad.gif and the gearbox is playing up a bit tooface-icon-small-mad.gif

Didn't mean to post then hit wrong button

Afaik two sort of plugs available to you "6s" and "7s", cant remember which way round it goes but one is better for more modded engine, and the other for standard/mildly modded. Haven't heard of a plug increasing bhp, but if it helps the car to run better it will make the most of what you already have i.e if you have more power afterwards, you should have had it in the first place. If you are planning to uprate boost, remap , fmic on top of what you already have then I guess that would go in the more modded categoryface-icon-small-tongue.gif

My cambelt was changed by the previous owner at 31000 miles but at the 45000 mile service, best of both worldsface-icon-small-wink.gif

The plugs you want are NGK PFR6B for a standard/lightly modded car and NGK PFR7B for a more highly tuned car. Cost about £35/£40 a set.

Without a doubt, a remap should be the first on your mod list. Fitting a front mount is really dependant on how far you wanna go with your car. You can get 400bhp using an sti 8 top mount, along with bigger turbo and supporting mods. I would also suggest an uprated clutch if going for anything above 320ish bhp.
