Jazmac Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I have fitted a dawes type manual boost valve (wee Brass thingy) i have it set to just 1.0 it was 0.8 before fitting on the turbo gauge but i am getting slight jerking when i have my foot to the floor, i tried taking it off and my turbo pressure fell to 0.5 which is lower than before i fitted the valve so i stuck it back on, i'm thinking i may need a upgraded fuel pump?? any other ideas, i am going to order one anyway as i had a piston burn out a few months back. where would the pump be located i'm thinking its under the rear seat under the bolt off panels is this the right area??
Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 before you change the pump see if you can do an ecu refresh could be it justneeds reset. clean the boost pipes etc. im sure grant (squirrel) will give a more informed answer ... when ever he is on next.
2559B Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 spark plugs .......... maybe ??? noticed a slight hesitation on mine last week ............ changed the plugs ......... now running as good as ever !!!
jcscoob Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Yes its under the back seat, drivers side ! But i dont think you will need one if your only runing 1 bar 14.5 psi the standard fuel cut is 16psi so you still have a bit to go i would recomend a fuel pressure regultor befor the pump or both at the same time! Maybe get someone to check your plugs and leeds first!
Jazmac Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 i have a new set of plugs, just need a dry day to fit them. weather has been bad lately. yeah i had to turn it down as it was going to 1.3 bar and just cutting out.
2559B Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 If you where going to fit a fuel pressure regulator & uprated fuel pump ........... would that not require a re-map ???
RossRB5 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 When I had a misfire on mine, it was only "foot to the floor" when it would happen, normal driving it was fine. Fitted new plugs and it improved a bit, then I fitted new HT leads and this solved it. The MY99 onwards cars have the leads running pretty much right over the exhaust rather than the separate coil packs on the earlier cars, and as such the leads are more prone to breaking down. Hope you get it sorted out.
dougster Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Sounds like plugs. Remember and keep your dawes pipework nice and short.
dipsy Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Ross rb5 the ht leads are no way near the exhaust .They go over inlet manifold 2 left then 2 right into cylinder heads
jcscoob Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 And remeber to keep the small pipe that you took of, as it has a wee restrictor in it
Jazmac Posted November 8, 2005 Author Posted November 8, 2005 any other ideas fellas, stuck new plugs in never help any, shortened my hoses to the dawes type valve aswell still shuddering under load??
RossRB5 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Try new HT leads mate, fixed mine when new plugs didn't.
