andyr
Looks like all 4 tyres are heading for replacement very soon : managed a 180 spin at the weekend on wet roundabout and all tyres are low in tread although legal. Currently the front and rear pairs don't match and neither are anything special (Uniroyals on one end I think, not sure about the other without looking) so I'm not looking for ultimate grip, just a decent tyre that will be suitable for the usual Scottish roads and mixed weather. I've been looking at some of the online tyre companies (mytyres, blackcircles topgear.co.uk ) and excluding the regularly recommended tyres name such as Potenzas, Toyo T1Rs etc (which since I'm having to lash out on a full set are going to hurt the wallet a little too much !) there are a number of tyres that suit my budget a bit more but I'd appreciate recommendations from those that might have used tyres towards teh budget end of the price spectrum. Anyone got any recommendations for suitable tyres / sources ? Falken 451s ? Uniroyal Rainsport ? Toyo R610A ? P6000 ? Yoko S306 ? Oops, Tyres are for a 95 WRX, 205/50 16 Cheers Link to comment

irish al
Fitted Khumo tyres to the front of my car and I wish I hadent. Bridgestone Potenza RE050 or RE070. Subaru fit them as standard so there good enough for me. Will be changing my front two back to Potenza.. Link to comment
ScoobyAndy
I get all my tyres through a wholesaler in Edinburgh. All the top brands at very good trade prices. Anyone in the area that needs tyres give me a ring and i'll see what i can do for you. I also know a tyre depot manager or 2 that would be more than willing to fit, and also do good deals on new wheels for anyone Link to comment

craig mac
I had the Faken 451 on my classic and they were great wet and dry Good tyre if you are on a budget Craig Link to comment
scooby222
i had kuhmo ecstas on the front of mine and they were ok, didnt find them any worse than the pirelli pzeros i had before. but nowhere near as good as the toyo t-r's i put on when i could afford them. ive still got two of the kuhmos in the garage, only done 2000 gentle miles, in 205 45 17 if your interested Link to comment
Gumball
what about one of these? Link to comment
wilky
Kuhmos as mentioned above are great in the dry I have been trying to wear them out for 2 years, but as anyone who has been behind me in the wet, especially with my coilovers, they are a handful. Toyo T1R seems to be better in the wet. Kumho has a new tyre out the SPT to try and get the T1R buisness back but no comparison as yet. For an all rounder the T1R is tried and tested wet and dry and produces the goods but as you say the money they cost is a bit steep. Jim Dixon in cumbernauld village would probably do you a deal on 4, no harm in seeing what he wants for them. The uniroyal rain tyre Fai is talking about, I have heard mixed stories about and personally would steer away from. As a member who ocassionally drives his car like he stole it, I would say the T1R is the best tyre, it lasts longer than the old T1S and the tyre edge has been hardened to stop any negative camber wearing it out before you would expect. This is all in my personal, and humble opinion. Callum W Link to comment
wrxmania
B F Goodrich G-Force Profiler (NOT Profiler G - they are terrible). Tested and designed for the 2003 onwards WRX but applicable to other cars. I have them on my Primera GT - very good though not really much cheaper than Toyo's etc. Local place really rate them too after testing them on track against the competition. I think Grant aka The Squirrel has them on the rear of his "Old Red"???? Brian Link to comment
wrxmania
Meant to add I like the Bridgestone Potenza RE-050 (GZ for my 03 WRX) and think they wear well and are a good all round wet and dry tyre. Link to comment

duke
i had falken 451's on my lancer - great tyre for the price and i'd argue better than the bridgestones they replaced. they griped well in wet, dry and snow (215/45/16). on my gt4 i had hankook ventus 104 and khumo ecstas which never really impressed wet or dry (but were decent) - recently replaced with pirelli pzero assimetricos (kwikfit are doing 25% off or buy 4 get 1 free ) and they have been superb so far only bettered by the dunlop do1js in dry and they are amazing in wet - just give awsome amounts of grip - mind you the GT4 is a great handling car Link to comment
ScoobyAndy
Easgle F1's as Al said, id swear by them. Theyre a very very good tyre and dont loose traction very much Link to comment

Pentlander
Bearing in mind winter is fast approaching! and by all accounts it's going to be a bad one. - All the tyres mentioned are summer tyres or so-called "all-year" tyres. Ever thought about getting a set of winter tyres? I have a set of Nokian WR's which I used last winter. They were superb in the snow and surprisingly good on wet and greasy roads (once they were scrubbed a bit). Make the most of your 4 wheel drive. - It's no good when you don't have traction! I had Bridgestone RE 050's on the previous winter, and they were hopeless in the snow. The Nokians are going back on at the first sign of a snow flake! I can highly recommend them! Link to comment
sma01
p zero neros on mine just now, they are superb when new, but once they are a bit more worn they start to lost a lot of the grip...... kumho make good tyres for the track that arent very expensive, although not sure what i am going to put on mines next,,,, Scott Link to comment
fai17
I can't really complain about the tyres i've got on just now.I seems to get better the more miles i put on them. It's toyo T1 S btw Link to comment
