Also happening with OUTLOOK.EXE and typing is affected with many keystrikes not regestering. Computer related thread. I can post Hi-jackThis findings if need be.

Gumball Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 the firewall could be causing you dramas take it off for a bit and see if that helps?

I don't like McAfee, I must admit. Never have, never will. XP SP2's firewall is quite adequate, but Kerio Personal Firewall is a good free alternative.
dougster Posted October 22, 2005 Author Posted October 22, 2005 Java runtime? Will uninstall McAfee Firewall and enable Windows version.
IanJ Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 You need java runtime for certain websites, a bit like macromedia flash (Only it can run real applications too) If i were you i'd format and rebuild it, i bought a PC from a well known worldwide PC shop and the windows build was sh*te to say the least. The PC flew along after the rebuild. Also make sure you've been onto windows update and downloaded the latest security fixes from micro$oft
=Robbo= Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Look at task manager and see what processes are using the most processor time, is anything using 90% or more? If you enable remote desktop and open up port 3389 on your firewall I can look at it remotely for you. I would try reinstalling Service Pack 2 before you do anything though. Robbo
st3ph3n Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 Oh aye, re-apply SP2. It fixes all manner of problems we've had at work.
