coulty Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 For those that dont know me i have been having a hesitation above 5.5k on my motor for some time now. I have changed just about every sensor and tried everything i can think of and many others have thought of. I thought by taking my car on the rolling road for a diagnostic session i might be able to work out what is wrong with my car. So last friday morning i called Dastek and left a message with the woman on the phone for Paul to call me back asap. He never called me so i called back later only for her to say he had got the message but she would get him to call asap. I was driving when he called me at 6pm so i couldn't answer it and funnily enough when i called back 5 mins later (when i had stopped at the side of the road) nobody answered (as you would expect at 6pm on a friday). I called twice during saturday with no reply from the phone at all. I called first thing monday and got Paul and said my troubles and what i had said to the woman on friday and he said he would work out his schedule for the week and call me back later. I said that this was my only week off and i needed to try to do it this week. By the time 3.30pm came i thought i had better call him and he said he was going to call me but he would have to go away and try to fit me in but promised to call me back before he closed that night. He never called but i called Yesterday again (tuesday) and he said that he might be able to fit me in but could he call me at a moments notice so i would just drive through when he had time. Now for someone who doesn't have things planned and is sad perhaps this sounds great, however sitting by the phone waiting for it to ring isn't my thing. I told him this wasn't acceptable and just like i had said earlier in the week i need a time. He said he might be able to fit me in next monday (obviously next monday is not in my week off!) but said he would call back after he talked to his mechanics. I am still waiting for that call right now and i don't intend calling him back AGAIN and wasting me time (which i don't have a lot of anyway) and money. My complaint is that after my previous 2 experiences of Dastek (which were all great btw) i find myself being rather annoyed at the lack of customer service. In my job if i didn't call a customer back as i said i would, let me just say i wouldn't have a job anymore. What do you guys/gals think of the way Dastek has treated me and what would you do and do you think i am being unreasonable about this? One addition about me is that i don't tend to say much but when i do i like to think i am usually correct. Stuart
drb5 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Totally agree about the phoning you back mate, but personnally i would never expect them to have the time, to fit you in, when they don't know how long it might take, to sort/look over the car. I would be for trying to get somewhere else to look at it anyways. Somewhere down south, where you can plan it all well in advance, but know that the people you have booked it into, are TRUE professionals in Scooby tuning. Nothing against Dastek, just not my idea of Scoob tuners.
johnnyr6 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Sorry to hear this m8, i'm surprised at dastek, i would have thought when you phoned them if they couldn't fit you in this week they would have said and booked you in and gave you a date and time for the next free space.
Gumball Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 thye have always been very good. the results the get are very accurate, however i have seen recently that they dont call back as promised. thats fair enough as they are busy i suppose. i sometimes forget to call clients back as i have 1001 things to do. probably the same case here. although frustrating !! results yes, phonecalls no.
coulty Posted October 19, 2005 Author Posted October 19, 2005 << thye have always been very good. the results the get are very accurate, however i have seen recently that they dont call back as promised. thats fair enough as they are busy i suppose. i sometimes forget to call clients back as i have 1001 things to do. probably the same case here. although frustrating !! results yes, phonecalls no. >> They may be very good as i have found also but calling people back is part of business, and customers do not value companies very highly after problems like these. I also get very busy in work but always make sure that i call everyone back as without customers there is no business and in work there is also something a lot of people do including me as part of earning money.....OVERTIME!
Fee Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Fair enough about the phone calls.....but you can hardly blame them for being booked up. If you can only manage this week at least they're trying to squeeze you in......they could have just told you to bugger off. If you're not happy with that, take your business elsewhere
Gumball Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 calling people back is part of business as i understand. hope you get what you want from them

If you're not happy with that, take your business elsewhere >> You obviously don't get my point. It is just plain rude not to call someone back and to try to slot me in but to still have me hanging is not the way it should be done. I would understand if he had siad there no room try another week but to "try" to put me in and keep me waiting is just the wrong way to go about it. Just like most things in scotland there are too few places about for rolling roads. Dastek know they on to a good thing.
Johnny50 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Stuart, Totally see where you're coming from. Even if it were a call just to say "no, we wont fit you in" would've helped the case, but no phonecalls aint good.
Grovit Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 echo - Johnny 50 comments. Manners cost nothing.................except for potential lost business of course.
Gumball Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 i see the point. the point is this- as a business in a consumer market, regardless of whether they feel that they dominate that due to a limited number of competitors, she should still be commercially aware enough to understand that not returning peoples requests/calls may potentially have a detremental effect on their business. Further to this as they have done it to myself also, you can see an emerging trend appearing in their modus operandi. This im sure is not an isolated incident, and there are potentially numerous other members of the car enthusiasts market dissheartened by their approach. I also understand, (here comes the gumball humour) that Myself and Fee were trying to help appease your rage and give you support in your greivance..not to antagonise the matter. hope this shows that i understand what you are feeling?
coulty Posted October 19, 2005 Author Posted October 19, 2005 Cheers Johnny and Grovit, thanks for seeing my point. Cheers to Chris also. I know you were trying to help and to Fee if she echo's the same thoughts. It is not the best to see that other people also are having the same problems as me. I think Dastek were good, they only need to get a grip and sort themselves out and i would quite happily give them another chance. Hope they are listening...... Stuart
ScoobyAndy Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Have to say Coulty i can see where your coming from. I know what iam like when people say they'll phone you back and never do, such antics have lost many a place my trade, and alot of other people's. Simply manners arent too hard for most people.
andrew_forrest Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I have to say I'm the same when on the 'customer' end of the phone, I expect calls to be returned. On the other end however, as the service provider, it sometimes just isn't possible to do everything you would like to. I am as guilty as anyone for not responding as soon as I should. Stuart for example has been in need of work in the past and on some occassions was fitted in after hours. On other occassions however I'm sure he got frustrated due to not getting me on the phone when he called. As in most forms of business, the work does not come at a steady rate. If your business is expanding (like Dastek) then it is even more difficult to ensure you have the appropriate resources in place at all times regarding customer service. Employing someone else to man the phone during lunchtime for example just isn't practical from a cost perspective. Andy ps I apologize to anyone who's calls/emails have gone unanswered recently ! pps Does that get me off the hook
drb5 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 << pps Does that get me off the hook >> Nope. Give me some free stuff!!!
Johnny50 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 << ps I apologize to anyone who's calls/emails have gone unanswered recently ! pps Does that get me off the hook >> No !! You still aint answered my email from a month or so back !!
