~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 KH is ace but I'd like to sniff oot some new territory............... Cadwell Park is immense by the looks of it. Anyone done Oulton park. On the PS2 simulators doesn;'t count So who's done what ? Cal
wilky Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Ahhhh....... let me think now (Casting his mind back many moons, when a cheiftan was a warrior and not a tank).....I raced thruxton in my Mini Cooper in 1988 and 1989, its more associated with bikes but its a very exciting circuit. That was when a cooper was a cooper and not at 90s etc name steal. Everyone looked forward to owning a Sierra Cossy or if you were a track driver an old formula ford or a dutton Phaeton. ( I can almost see Zeolites eyes glaze over.....) Lydden Hill is a very hilly circuit, I drove that in my Dolomite sprint and again in 2003 in my scooby. Goodwood is fantastic, if you get the chance you must drive there its a blast Lynhurst corner will catch u every time. And KH is KH. Ah....... I had forgotten those places................ Callum
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 15, 2005 Author Posted October 15, 2005 I'm gonna take my brother & dad to Goodwood festival of Speed next year - if your into cars then it has to be done before you pop yer clogs.... I think me and Bing and the two co-piloting brothers are gonna attack the 'Ring next year too alhtough we better up-rate our brakes too.. I have been saying this for ages but I need to see Sabine in action and pay home to Gan San in his Spec C from the BOM DVD's ( essential possessions for Jap & Scooby fans) Your post gave me a chuckle Callum - my old boy was a Mini fanatic and always lusted after a Cossie Sapphire
Ali C Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Cal, I've been to Oulton and Cadwell which have the reputation as being technical, drivers circuits. They're also some of the closest so I don't think you can go wrong with either as a first venture further afield. Cadwell just edges it as my fave. I was at the 'Ring last year but it snowed so only done the indoor karting at the GP circuit and drifting in the car park. Will be back next year...
RA Dunk Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 lol does anyone else notice the lack of tracks in scotland compared to england?? kind of embarrasing
st3ph3n Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 I've said it before and I'll say it again - why Scotland doesn't have more race tracks is entirely beyond me. Look at the talent we've produced historically and recently. The natural terrain could be used to provide some truly excellent race tracks. There are natural ampitheaters all over the place that can be used to create great spectating tracks. But alas, I'm just one man crusading. Is Cadwell park the one with the "jump" on it? I'd love to have a go round Brands. I've done countless hours round the indy circuit in a Primera touring car trying to break lap records. Oulton always looks good on the telly. Thurxton looks scary as hell if you're driving something with a decent terminal speed. Spectated at Rockingham for the first CART race they held. Was an awesome sight, but don't think it'd make the most interesting road circuit based on the inside layout. Love to try Donnington aswell. The craner curves down to the old hairpin. Just what the doctor ordered.
johnnyr6 Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Compared to other tracks in the uk, knockhill is sh't, especially the facilities, but it's all we have. Luckily for knockhill there are no more tracks up here or it would prob go bust. Donnington is good. I'd love to try philip island but a bit pricey to go to me thinks..
ken555 Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 Done Knockhill in the Scooby and a Mk 2 Escort, Silverstone in a 205 Gti, and old enough to have done Inglestone in a Mk2 Escort as well.
