chris_c201 Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Hi All, Newbie to SIDC here.. I've recently bought a 2001 Bugeye WRX and i'm looking for the following - De-Cat Up-Pipe Centre De-Cat Pipe Resonator Removal Pipe Anyone got these 2nd hand or even any tips on where i would get them new..... Anyone within the Glasgow area had this done and if so roughly how much will i be talking to get the above three fitted? Thanks, Chris.
wrxmania Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Try clicking here for C&C Custom Stainless in Hillington - they will do make the parts you need.
chris_c201 Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 Don't suppose you have any idea how much (just a ballpark) Cheers for the tip... Out of Curiosity has anyone done something similar and if so do you think this is worthwhile, going forward my other plan is to get it remapped as well.....
wrxmania Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 LOADS of people have done similar - it is all well tried and tested ground for an Impreza. A remap will be needed after the work to prevent det and get the best from the mods. I would reckon for an up pipe, downpipe and centre section it could be a few hundred quid easily, probably more. Also depends on how good your existing backbox is, the diameter of the pipework and and other work which might be needed or recommended. Good luck. Brian
chris_c201 Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 I'm planning to keep the down-pipe cat as i'm not wanting to fail MOT's..... Would a re-map be needed right away as i was planning on holding off for a few months between the two (cos of cash!)
Bing Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Chris, Hayward & Scott Decat up pipe - new £100 (most types) Centre decat pipe - new £150ish Un resonated section - new £80ish Centre pipe and unresonated section circa 1hr max for fitting Up pipe circa 2hrs labour You wont need a remap straight away with WRX but I'd go for it in the 'not too distant future'. Its always worth it! I passd an MOT with just the up pipe CAT in, but you will need either the centre cat or down pipe cat to pass generally!
chris_c201 Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 Yeh, i know that the down-pipe cat is the most restrictive but if it means no worries for MOT's i'll keep it and get rid of the other two.... Cheers for the reply.
gus the bus Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Anyone got contact details for Hayward & Scott? I'm thinking of doing the same or similar? I have the Prodrive PPP kit which I presume is the back box only??? could I purchase parts in-between that would fit directly? Turbo back!!! (nae MOT for three years!!!) Who best for the re-map and approx cost? questions, questions, questions!!!! Cheers Gus
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 PPP is new intercooler hose, centre decat, backbox & maybe fuel pump plus revised ECU I think CGS
gus the bus Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Cheers Cal, Your right about the other bits but I wasn't aware of the Centre de-cat, good! What would I need then mate? De-cat up-pipe and??? (I'm presuming the uppipe is the bit that fits to the Turbo and would increase the spooling-up of the turbo????) Please help a techno phobe!!! Gus
