Fee Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Just been along at CLCM (thanks for the recommendation) to have my tracking sorted It's made such a noticable difference to driving......I actually have to turn the car round corners rather than it doing it itself! Super service.....with a really detailed printout of all the readings Suggested I get new tyres as the ones on at the moment are really cheap (goddam McKay trading cheapskates :confused So any suggestions for tyres are more than welcome
st3ph3n Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Really is nothing to beat proper alignment/geometery settings. In the future it'll be the first thing I get done to a car. How about a set of Toyo R888 Road Legal track day semi slicks. They'll be hillarious in the Scottish Winter! Can't fault my Bridgestone RE050s, even on the track, but my they're the only tyres I've ever used on the car so can't really say if something like the RE070 or the Toyo Proxes are better.
MY94 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 That sounds familiar,I bought there too Fee. The first things I did were wheeel alignment, new tyres and then geometry.Roundabouts were scary with both understeer and over at the same time until I got it sorted. The tyres were good Yoko's,but they didn't like the rain at all!! His cars are OK,but I think they just swap wheels about from car to car sometimes.......along with a bumpy ride in a crate from Japan the settings are bound to be all over the place. But then they also failed to mention anything about difference in fueling too!! Failed to mention my car might go bang if I didn't use booster/remap. Still,he did me a good price(negotiation skills a must to get a resonable price from here!) and my Sti has been reliable(although I needed a new MAF after a month or so).I would probably buy from him again as I do believe that his cars are of decent quality,I'd just factor in the cost of this before negotiating a deal!
fai17 Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 You should have done it ages ago Fee. Go for Toyo or F1 Goodyear
Grovit Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Yep - would echo above - when I had the car set up for Prodrive settings, the handling was transformed - totally wiped out all but the most extreme understeer. Also run Goodyear Eagle F1's - personally I don't think I'll ever use any other tyre again as the wet weather grip is outstanding - They're pricey but worth it in my opinion.
wrxmania Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I also like my Brdigestone RE-050's - GZ type for a 2003 onwards WRX (there were 16 versions of this RE-050 listed for different car models). Toughened sidewall. Other good tyres are the relatively new technology B F Goodrich G-Force Profiler (NOT Profiler G - they are terrible) - designed and tested for the WRX. Very good. Brian
