imprezyou Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 Hi guys thinking of changing my exhaust headers but not sure which ones.....dont understand do i go for equal or un equal. Can anyone throw some light on it for me?
Dalthegooner Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 As far as I know equal headers give you a couple of bhp more but you lose the distinctive exhaust note that the un-equal headers gives you, personally I prefer the exhaust note as the power gains are minimal
tony_cousins Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 From my understanding you get more power from equal length headers but lose the burble of the flat four, but as proved by one of our members you can get this burble back by having a firestorm back box put on !!!!!!!!!!!! Depends on if you can live without the burble !!!!! Tony
riceboy Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I have a set of HKS headers fitted to my 94wrx. On a remapped car, headers can give about 15bhp and upto 25lb torque. Pros- extra bhp and torque, lower boost needed to reach same power as standard headers as greater flow, superbike sound when at full throttle Cons-loss of the flat four rumble at high revs(listen at low revs, it is still there!) later spool on the turbo compared with standard headers, can be expensive People in the USA have run 500bhp+ on standard headers. You could always port the standard headers for better flow whilst still retaining the burble and spool of the standard car. Hope this helps Nathan
