imprezapete Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Basically due to the latest run being pulled. Me and Scoobyandy did a fair bit of ground work for the cancelled run. Alway we have come up with a nice drive round the Lothians and Borders that will take about one tank of fuel to complete from start and back at a Optimax station. I dont know if anyone is interested in this, so I'm starting this thread to see if the following idea would have any attendees. Idea: Borders/Lothians run either on the first Saturday or Sunday of October (01 or 02/10) Meeting at Musselburgh Shell petrol station at about 7:00pm heading south and back up to Musselburgh Shell station for refill and home. Run distance and the pace will allow the STi's and modded people to make it in about 1 tank if your careful, A extra Gallon tankard may be hand if you drive like Gumball Anyway if interested, add your name 1.ImprezaPete 2.ScoobyAndy PS, the roads are all know by me and Andy for maximum affect , but we wont horsing on like the highland run. So more sidate drivers are welcome
Gumball Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 << A extra Gallon tankard may be hand if you drive like Gumball >> - cheekyman 1.ImprezaPete 2.ScoobyAndy 3. gumball have i read this right that your planning on holding this from twilight into darkness? I would like it if it was daylight, cos im a bit scared. IMHO
ScoobyAndy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 << I would like it if it was daylight, cos im a bit scared. IMHO >> you big chicken darkness was only a wee idea as we drive these roads in the dark most of the time and theyre deserted. just that some of them are slightly wider than single track, but mighty amazing. as Pete said we wont b flying (i'll have the ignis out )tho times can be re-arranged slightly to suit some people. (iam sure Pete wont mind )
irish al Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 1.ImprezaPete 2.ScoobyAndy 3. gumball 4. Gordyq 5. Irish Al & Baby No 2 Sounds good to me. Dont get back from holiday till the saturday night so sunday is good for us. If the run takes about one tank of fuel without having fun with the right foot then I think leaving at 7.00pm is a bit late.
ScoobyAndy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 << If the run takes about one tank of fuel without having fun with the right foot then I think leaving at 7.00pm is a bit late. >> i see everyones point. tho Pete makes it sound boaring there.... there WILL be plenty oppertunity for right foot fun just not too fast

imprezapete Posted September 24, 2005 Author Posted September 24, 2005 Hi peeps A update to this as follows..... I have done a few routes and the best is about 188miles and it includes a mid point Optimax stop in the borders for the likes of gumball to refill. I have reworked the time and date to come up with a start time of... 17:00, leaving 17:30 on the 2ND of October. Lasting around 3.5 hours and arriving back at a mid lothian Optimax station thats better placed for people leaving to glasgow and up north. I think we will give a garage attendent a heart attack that night lol If anyone has any feedback please post by Saturday the 24TH at 17:00 hours as I will make a new thread with run details for people sign up to. Also I would like to note that there will be some GOOD, enjoyable areas on the run. But the time of the day is important for us to get best of the roads in these area, by the end of the run will have set but not by much. Cheers Pete
Gumball Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 << mid point Optimax stop in the borders for the likes of gumball to refill >> will this not be a fairly easily paced run?
ScoobyAndy Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 << will this not be a fairly easily paced run? >> yeah but we know how your clydesdales like to drink
