st3ph3n Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Craig, have you seen Irish Al's install? It's very nice indeed. Lovely sound off it too. Saw it back at the AWD open day. Think he did most of it himself
craig mac Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 St3ph3n Irish Al? Is he local in Aberdeen?? Craig
Power Junkie Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Have you been into Checkpoint on George Street?
craig mac Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Power Junkie I have asked them for a price to fit yes Craig
craig mac Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Karps And where might i ask does the shopping and Golf clubs go? Nice job though all the same How do you get in to fill the water spray bottle? Craig
irish al Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Its probably like servicing your car yourself. DIY as its much more fun and a lot cheaper. At least this way you can dynamat the doors and fit speaker pods to strengthen up the flimsy metal. If you not fitting subs then replacement door speakers are easy to fit. I have done quite a few cars and the hardest part is ripping the door cards and trim off you nice new car. I had my head unit out two days after getting the car and fitted everything in a weekend. Have a full pioneer system and it a bit of an improvement over the original stuff. Pioneer DEH-P70BT Head Unit Single Din Pocket with flip down cover Pioneer CD-IB100 Ipod Adaptor 20GB Apple Ipod Pioneer TS-E176C 17cm Components in Front Doors Pioneer TS-E136C 13cm Components in Rear Doors Pioneer TSW-306 12" Subs x 2 Pioneer GM-6100F Amplifiers x 2 Custom Built Speaker Pods for Components Dynamat Neon Light Fuses, Cables and more Cables
Boyakasha Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Craig I might be able to help you out. I have 2 complete ICE systems available, one from my other halfs WRX and one from me STi. Both the same type of speakers, DLS Audio and something else I can't remember. She ran her speakers off a Alpine head unit with the ipod link whilst I ran mine off a Pioneer headunit with seperate amps. Drop me a PM if your interested PS Checkpoint did all the work and I think they would only charge about £80 to fit. Marc
craig mac Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 Marc I have all the gear Checkpoint in Aberdeen refused to fit it as i sourced my speakers elsewhere!!! In comms with Autosonic at the moment re install Thanks Craig
Power Junkie Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Checkpoint fitted my stuff without any trouble.
craig mac Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 Checkpoint were good and advised on what i should be fitting speakers wise any way i have my amps Well they suggested the speakers etc for the front and rear doors to me They retail at 250 a set all in all stores so 500 alone for front and rear doors So i find somewhere/someone selling them at 125 a set so i bought them brand new as well Half price 250 both sets Sorted They suggested i get a stealthbox for my sub again retailing at arond the 150 mark, i sourced it for 80 They quoted me £1100 to supply the above wiring etc for my 3 amps. So i save myself nearly 300 quid go back to get a date and tell them i have the items they suggested There responce...... If your not buying the stuff from us we wont fit it?? Now they would have made themselves a right packet on wiring etc and it would have been a nice little earner plus they were asked to supply and fit a parrot or similar bluetooth kit So i would guess for cables fuse carriers etc etc they would have had a good £300 fitting plus £100ish for the bluetooth, But no they dont want to know??? Strange but true i wish i was in a business that i could afford to turn down work Especially when i know that the mark up on car ice wiring is in excess of 55% trade price is buttons compared to retail and that a fact So checkpoint no ... let me down Craig
