scoobykev Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 power, is all i want Don't want to go down the power fc route, and want to keep the standard turbo. i've already got full decat and an hks panel filter(don't want an induction kit) Is it simply fit a dawes device? and fuel cut defender? or do i need a Chip in the ecu as well? Is this just going to make it go bang? Lots of questions i know but any help would be appreciated Also if anybody has any bits they want to sell let me know Thanks Kev
RS Grant Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I'm pretty sure you cant fit a Chip to the MY98 ECU mate... and you will be faced with the PFC route. To be honest, I wouldnt fit a FCD and Dawes cause its a bit crude for me, seems a bit too easy to raise the boost......... It could well go bang in a big way. Cheers, Grant
dipsy Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Kev i had a dawes on my car year a go was fitted by Awd i didn't have a knocklink or Afr meter it makes a difference the turbo spools up a lot faster .I have my2000 uk turbo with full decat and tek3 and jr panel what i have know it spools up same and i still don't have knock and afr and do you have a dawes i have one sitting at home and what boost are you running at the moment your better of with knocklink and Afr better on the safe side.If you were going to spend money on a chip better of spending the money on power fc and maped by Andy f a lot safer than a chip . My cars ecu was an 802 that runs richer than 800 and 801 my ecu know is 800 tek2 exchange job which was rubbish had problems with it but tek3 remap what a difference
jcscoob Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Kev, scoobyclinic do remap for you car here is the link, you would just have to make a romantic weekend of it Im sure you could pull it off
Carl Davey Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I'd go Dawes and FCD Kev. I've just ordered one for £17 or something ridiculous, can't go wrong for that much IMO. I'd always seen it as a crude method of boost control but i've heard good things said about MBCs in general from people in both the Subaru and Vauxhall tuning worlds so am going to suck one and see for myself. Beats the hell out of a bleed valve and it's £17 i'd rather spend than feck about plumbing my AVC-R into the Cavalier.
scoobykev Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 << Kev, scoobyclinic do remap for you car here is the link, you would just have to make a romantic weekend of it Im sure you could pull it off >> They don't seem to do it for my year, and you ain't met my wife, there's no romance in this marraige, lol Are these things easy to fit and set up?, i've got a boost guage and afr
paddy247 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Go for a boost controller of somekind, electronic if you got the cash, uprated fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, fcd, and a/f/r/meter, boost guage, then you still have the option of getting it remaped down the line. id recomend the blitz spec s boost controller, And as long as your engine is good to start with ie compression ect and no knocking lol, it should respond well
