boabster Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 saw a set of equal lentgh headers for sale in for sale bit...... need a bit of info if anyone could help? was told or heard that you lose the (dugga dugga burble) is this true. and would it just sound like a normal loud exhaust? what gains would you be looking at? if anyone could help it would be much appreciated
Gumball Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 headers will give you extra power. not sure of exact figures but they WILL make a big difference. mine are almost equal so sound burbly till top end. TBH, i thin khaving a scooby that sound totally different would be good. IMHO
jamie_wood Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Car will sound like (more like) a WRC car. You DO loose the beat of the boxer but you DO gain torque from them. If it was me I would buy them *price depending I run semis and have lost a little of the burble but its worth it if your serious about the power gains Cant give you figures on mine as it had a flywheel, injectors, pump etc fitted and also mapped afer having them fitted.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 The reason you'll loose some of the burble is because the equal length headers alters the phasing of the exhaust gases that gives the Impreza it's famous flat four burble.............it will still sound VERY sweet though Go for it
IanJ Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Yip sounds sweet and frees up the torque. Buy my wagon and you get a set for free
fai17 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Sorry,,, Personally i wouldn't get them after all thats what i bought the scooby for. That famous burble that tells you a scooby is coming. But if you want to be different go for it.
boabster Posted September 12, 2005 Author Posted September 12, 2005 think il go for them.......... cheers for the input as i said much appreciated does anyone know if they are a pain to fit? they look straight forward enough...? (famous last words)
SCOOBYD00 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 I've got a set for sale. Direct swap for original item. Mid range torque (big difference IMHO) & the included turbo uppipe delivers the goods and the turbo spools quicker. Yep.. loose the dugga but good torque & at the top end a screaming rally note. PM if your interested.

dipsy Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Daft question which headers is it to keep the scooby sound
david_duncan2 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Dipsy, Unequal length headers retain that Scooby burble although equal length are supposed to release more bhp/torque than the unequal length ones. Having said that, even unequal length stainless tubular headers should produce more power than original spec. cast iron headers due to their better flow characteristics--less friction with the stainless compared to the rougher finished cast iron.--Likely to be noisier though and not sure if that would suit your own car! Dave.
