Good draw against Italy & what would we do in Scotland if we suffered a storm as bad as New Orleans thread

Good game,I thought, decent result against Italy and the team looked to have some spirit about them. One of the best goals they've scored in a long while.

Also,I was chatting tonight about whats happened in New Orleans(very sad & tragic).

But we got talking about how the Scotts would react in the wake of such a terrible ordeal. The only conclusion we came to was this:we would not all suddenly start raping, stealing, shooting and killing each other. There seems to be a frightening undertone to the reaction of those folks over there............thank god we don't all have the right to bear arms.So many frightened people, not afraid of another natural disaster, but of other people.Humanity has a long, long way to go.......

I don't want to be insensitive,so I'll leave it there.face-icon-small-sad.gif

Thank u and goodnight.

A very sad situation in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi indeed, I don't know how much TV coverage you guys are getting, but is a MAJOR disaster, something like 100,000 people are left homeless and were without proper food, water and medical care for 3-4 days, hundreds of people have died, many while waiting for help to arrive.

I think it is impossible to say how people would react to a situation like that unless you are faced with it first hand, right enough the shooting is a big USA thing, but the rest of it could and probably would happen everywhere else.

At least were above sea level.

But it has proved that George Bush is a complete arse.

Would like to see what the mayor of New Orleans would do to him if they met in person.

He should pull the troops from Iraq, let them sort their own country and deal with death and destruction at home instead of wasting lives in a sand pit in the desert.

What do you all think on this subject?

I think Bush has handled the situation quite poorly - the reaction to September 11th was MUCH better, yet he says this is far worse in his opinion than that - Billyboy - your description of him is quite accurate. He is as fake as they come.

How is the new STI doing????

Politics aside, how many natural disasters do we foresee in the future?

The World is doubling its population every 25 years. 6 billion now, 12 billion by 2025,

25 billion by the time I am 80ish!!!!!

Our great grand children may have standing room only on every part of the earth including the ice caps and deserts!!!

Is mother nature telling us something or do the powers have it in hand already? (sorry but the politics crept back in at the end!!)

Sasim,I'm not sure your right. The recent Tsunami didn't result in people turning into animals.Only in the States I recon, but lets hope we never ever find out.

You have to remember that it is only a very, very small number of people that are using the disaster as an *excuse* to commit crimes, these people are criminals anyway. The vast majority of the 250000+ people left homeless and missing family members have been peacefull despite being left without food and water for 3-4 days.

The relief effort and evacuation really got off to a bad start, and many questions will have to be answered about this in the coming weeks and months. One thing that I noticed accross here is that the media are trying very hard to point out the problems with the relief effort and building up the story on the few troublemakers, I suspect it's the same in the UK, since everyone loves to bash the Americans anyway.
