Hi All,

Ok, I'm in a bit of a dilemma....

Scoob is a UK supplied MY03 WRX and is out of Subaru warranty in March '06. I doubt I'll extend the warranty as I've read elsewhere that they want around £1k to extend it and I ain't minted.

It's almost due for it's 30k service. I know it's a biggy. I've been quoted "around £500" from my dealer (Canterbury) and have been quoted £550 by a nearby well known scoob specialist who uses fully synthetic oil and higher grade plugs.

I have been told that as long as the car is serviced as per Subaru's service schedule, my warranty is unaffected.

Do I get it done at the dealers?

Do I get it done at the specialist?

Or do I try another specialist that someone on here may recommend that is cheaper (I'm prepared to travel within reason)?

Now, I'd like to keep my warranty until March, as it'll be just my luck that I'll get my service done elsewhere and something ££££ goes bang. So what do you lot reckon?

Oh...and I may need new pads by the time it's due and the dealer wants £188 to supply and fit. Any ideas..? I've done pads on other cars so would be happy to do it myself, though I dont feel a need for more aggressive pads as I don't want to have to replace my discs in a hurry. Is there a Haynes or similar for Scoobs? What other brands and types are as good as OE stuff, but are not likely to eat my discs?

Cheers,

Nige,

Dover

buy the pads from a subaru dealer and fit them yourself piece of cake! and service the car yourself! if you need help just ask!

Lol as Leon said do the brakes yourself !!

If you dont want to service your car then go to Extreme Scoobies they are cheaper than Subaru main dealers and you still get your book stamped !!!!

Thanks for the continued advice Leon.

Am I right in thinking the 2500's are a harsher material, thereby increasing disc wear..? Don't fancy having to swap my discs in the near future, that's why I was contemplating DS2000's....?

All input and advice appreciated.....

they do eat the disk abit but the braking performance are excellent whatever the temperature! i have some on my car and i fitted them myself! the ds2000 i would say are only a bit better then the oem stuff! and the oem stuff are rubbish!

I have 2500's fitted to mine (although with a godspeed brake kit) and used them at silverstone yesterday for the 5 or 6 laps of the track session and had no problems with them at all face-icon-small-cool.gif
