harry_hood Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 i am £380 with Liverpool victoria,best i found anyway
st3ph3n Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 REMEMBER REMEMBER REMEMBER that a cheap quote on conufsed needs to be double checked with the insurer straight away. The number of cheap ones I got through that were quoting for the wrong car (GX) was quite high. If you think those quotes are expensive then try this one - in 2001 the AA quoted me £9000 on a 6 speed manual Twin Turbo'd Supra with no mods. The car was only going to cost me £11K!
peter_macgowan Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I am £730 with elephant with additional driver and 2 claims a bump I had and the claim for the repair work when my car was stolen. Extras I had to add were my morettes, Exhaust system and bodykit. I think they took about £15-30 an item for extras. And Im glad I declared everything and had reciepts the investigator that came round went through everything. Thats full no claims as well. Ive been with elephant for years.
wrxmania Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Elephant/Admiral always come up trumps for me - I switch between them every year. All mods declared, all accidents, etc. Brian
Johnny50 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Tescos always wins for me. I was paying 380 for my 98 turbo. Before that, i was 660 for the cossie (group 20)
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Elephant as much use as a choc. fire-guard!! Too many mods apparently, and they wont provide cover at-all for a car with a dump-valve fitted. confused.com only came back with one quote (admiral) and it was over £1800.
irish al Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Andy, you need to explain to the pre programed monkey at the other end of the phone that you havent fitted a dumpvalve. Explain that subaru cars have a dumpvalve as standard. Yours broke and you fitted a different type and that it does not change the cars performance. I am having the same problem with dump valves and strut bars. One company had to put strut bar through as suspension modification. When i asked why something that made the car handle better put my insurance up they told me that I could go round corners faster, hence the increase. same as fitting bigger brakes !!!!!
2559B Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 << i hate insurance >> { in my best Michael Winner voice } " Calm down dear ........ it's only a commercial !!! "
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Tried Tesco.... they won't touch without a tracker fitted.

The car does not require a tracker to be fitted but dont offer like 4 like on all mods.Adrian fluk will insure u for more dosh but offer like 4 like. Fully comp incl wife n xs £150.
johnnyr6 Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 i usually use elephant, this year 720 withoout mods, tried a-plan and reduced it to 560 inc. mods, i found so many companies don't like imports.
Gumball Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 £677 with elehant. that will go up now after losing it a couple of months ago
oobster Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 Greenlight have now quoted me £897, but only for me. Doesn't really matter as the Mrs. doesn't drive the car. Waiting on keith michaels getting back to me tomorrow. That company were suggested by a few over on scoobynet.
andy Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Oob - any hassle with them with the dump valve? Can't see it making any bloody difference, but after your previous post...
sarahbee Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 We have just changed our insurance to Elephant from Tesco. Elephant were around £830 which is alot better than Tesco's renewal quote. Sarah
oobster Posted September 1, 2005 Author Posted September 1, 2005 Adrian Flux require 24 months experience with this type of car, and i've only had the car for 6 months Previous cars have all been sensible oil-burners
neil_cassidy Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 i got mine with Admiral 03 sti i am only 23 aswell
jcscoob Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 << £677 with elehant. >> Not bad for a 400bhp monster
oobster Posted September 4, 2005 Author Posted September 4, 2005 It's good to get folk on the phone that know what your talking about when your listing all your mods. Keith Michaels have now came back with a figure of £895. Looks like i'm going to go with them or Greenlight, who were about 4 quid dearer. Anyone had experiences good or bad with either of those two? One of them (i forget which) said the dump valve would slow tha car down!! The Mrs. has also allowed me to chuck the cost of the prodrive springs onto my credit card, so it's going in on Friday to get the Prodrive springs fitted I had to promise not to buy anything else for the car as long as the year ends in 05, so 1st of Jan i'm right back into it again!!
st3ph3n Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 That stuff of mine on Friday will probably be last of the year. Probably an oil change after KH then a service at the tail end, but they don't count. Must bookmark this thread for my own use when I need my renewal.
