~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I have read lots on SN about this after hearty searching but thought I'd ask in here too ? What do I need to spend to improve the chassis set-up on a moderate budget ? Eibachs or prodrive springs ? Should I bother with drop links and if so just the rears ? Thanks in advance Cal
Gumball Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 tein springs droplinks rear. (powerflex) total cost= £240
st3ph3n Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Cal, I'm hopefully getting Droplinks and then prodrive geometery done very very soon. I'll let you know how much it helps.
Gumball Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 i have STI springs cal, you could use to start with and roll with them for a while. £50
spooks Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Prodrive springs, solid rear droplinks and a geometry set up. If ya fancy it more rear end active a rear antiroll bar fitted as well Defo go for prodrive springs for the road, far more progressive but I think the Eibachs may be better for track ....more solid. Sti springs wont fit a WRX unless you get the struts and top mounts. Spooks
Guest G6RAY Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 sti struts are inverted and springs are different rate wont fit wrx sruts or mounts and better of with eibach or tein prodrive tend to lower front more than back making it fun in the wet. silver 95 wagon with full h&s system and zero sports induction kit
Scooby Dooby Blue Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 To a moderate budget: Eibach springs Swaybar links & anti rollbar bushes (Whiteline/MRT) Anti-lift & anti-dive kits (Whiteline/MRT) Geometry set to - front camber max-equal -ve with 1mm toe-in - rear camber max-equal -ve The above should cost about £500-600 fitted. The above would also be a waste of time unless you run decent tyres (IMO) After that lot, suirrel away some dosh for bigger brakes. Best performance upgrade you can do i feel.
st3ph3n Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I've ordered my stuff today, hopefully get it later in the week. Full whiteline alloy droplinks, geometery done too, and red stuff pads. Track day here I come. The nice people at hypertech will even pickup my car from work, fit the goodies and drop it off later.
clutdav Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Cal, I have the STi springs that came off my car sitting in the garage. If you are interested then drop me a line. Dave

Thanks in advance Cal >> Get some driving lessons The eibachs and links are supposed to be the best handling mod for any age of Scooby (Within a reasonable budget that is!!)
wrxmania Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Whiteline rear drop links and Prodrive springs - much the same price as Eibach's, made by Eibach (as far as I am aware) but to Prodrive spec, specifically for the WRX model they fit. Brakes are a very good mod - well worth it. But, as stated above, the best investment in handling is driver training, although you are more than a dab hand at track days Brian.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks guys Looks like I'll go for Prodrive springs and drop links ........ . Is it only Subaru UK that stocks these springs ? I'll need to look into the brakes as they are CRAP !!! The old Honda CTR's brakes were immense as standard and I really miss em'. In a TG test they "outbroke" a 911 and once lasted 15 hard assed laps at KH with no fade Cheers Cal
