ed-209 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Don't know if this has been posted before, But I heard about this 99 Ron Petrol from Tesco, so I emailed them about it and got the following reply. ---------------------------------------- Thank you for your email. I have checked and can confirm that we are trialling two new grades at Tesco Petrol Filling Stations. 1. 99 Octane Super unleaded petrol Unique to Tesco this grade is now available in 12 stores around the South East. Participating Stores Bedford 1 Cheshunt Extra Crawley Hazelwick Gallions Reach Extra Gillingham Lakeside Ramsgate Manston Salisbury 2 Sandhurst Sevenoaks Riverhead Stevenage Winchester It has a very high octane content and will benefit high performance vehicles. 2. 97 Octane Super unleaded This is a standard super unleaded grade with an octane level of 97 RON compared to normal unleaded at 95 RON. Again this will benefit high performance vehicles, but not quite as high a quality as the 99 octane product. Participating Stores Ashby De La Zouch Banbury Bicester 2 Cardiff Extra Culverhouse Cross Neath Abbey Penarth Redditch Extra Stratford Upon Avon Warwick Worcester 1 Worcester 2 The roll out of both of these grades to further stores will be dependent on how well they sell currently. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting TES1098004X. Regards Deepak Kumar Tesco Customer Service ------------------------------------ So here's hoping it doesn't take long to get to Scotland. Ed.
Iaing Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Everyone in these areas go drive around lots and keep filling up on 99 ron tesco fuel! We need it up here in Aberdeen (and it'll still probably be cheaper than optimax!) Iain
scuba dou Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I was up Inverness way last week and everywhere you go Tesco supermarkets are poping up. They are getting into anything and everything nowadays; not sure it is all good Real shame for the country towns and villages I think. Up pops a Tesco and look at the effect on the local garden centres, music shops, cafes, ironmongers, clothes shops, wine shops, paper shops, butchers shops, fish shops,?..hell you will be able to go and get your hair cut there soon. The Tesco shop in Inveruire is taking more than 1 million pounds a week in turnover and they want to extend the place. Local planners are not happy, and Tesco have said fine, we will sell the site and build over the other side of railway bridge on the Oldmeldrum road?and they would get their money back in +/- 12 months. Short term good deals to me; another 10 years and where are all the family run businesses going to be that all our rural areas were built around and what will the main streets look like. I have very mixed feelings about what really is an aggressive takeover of the countries needs, not to mention the way they profile us all with the club card. Some very cute work going on there....and we don't even see it happening

The more people spend there, the more money tesco makes, the more my shares go up in price shares = mods p.s. - " putting serious hat on " -- i know what you're saying jools, however nobody is forcing people to shop at tesco's/ asda/ morrisons/ etc. If no-one shopped in it................then it wouldn't be there !!!!!!!
terminator Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 What about scottish stores??????particularly glasgow area?
2559B Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 << What about scottish stores??????particularly glasgow area? >> there are 88 tesco stores in scotland ........... glasgow has 6 stores. cambuslang express - st. rollox - shettleston - glasgow metro - maryhill - pollok.
ozzy Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 There's not a lot of choice other than shopping in a large Supermarket thesedays. I couldn't tell you where my closest local grocer, baker or butcher is Then there's the quality of the food in these big stores, especially fruit and veg. We get sold stuff on looks and price and that's about it. I heard one of the biggest sellers is pre-cut, bagged lettuce. Crazy, you need to spend 3 times as much money on 30secs of convienience. Can you tell I'm not a big fan of these superstores Guess we've only ourselves to thank wanting Apples from New Zealand or Peaches from California when the ones grown in our own country are just as good. Anyway, sorry to go off topic a bit
ScoobyAndy Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 << Guess we've only ourselves to thank wanting Apples from New Zealand or Peaches from California when the ones grown in our own country are just as good. >> dont get me started!!! ive heard some horror stroies about the freshness of some of these "healthy" fruits.. plus i look at it from a suppliers point and the way tesco and all other supermarkets treat theyre suppliers is absolutely shocking! they really dont care how or who they attempt to put out of business . but yet again, the general public encourage them as usual. but lets get bk on topic. 99 ron fuel up here.... think tesco need pressganging by all us scots that want that little extra
oobster Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 yup..... we should all bombard that tesco email address in ed's post with requests, and they might get the message. I'm gonna email them right now
sti-zlv Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 They have 97ron super at Tesco in Stirling, was there getting some diesel in the tank the other day and noticed it. Matt
ozzy Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Warning for anyone using ASDA in Dunfermline to fill up their cars - Diesel put into Unleaded Tank What I don't like about Supermarkets from a drivers POV is everyone moans about us car owners, yet I've heard from farmers that stock grown in Scotland can be sent abroad to be washed and packed, returned to the UK central depot before finalling arriving back in a store just miles from where it was grown. I mean, what a complete waste of fuel and a nightmare for the environment. every little helps ....
corsa Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 << << What about scottish stores??????particularly glasgow area? >> there are 88 tesco stores in scotland ........... glasgow has 6 stores. cambuslang express - st. rollox - shettleston - glasgow metro - maryhill - pollok. >> Cambuslang is not a filling station they opened last Monday but couldnt get a petroleum licence,i should know i ran the job There is soon to be a LARGE tesco shop and filling station in Helensburgh, job starts 5th September, that too is one of my jobs I will find out within the first week from the Petroleum officer from Tesco what the Fuel specification will be. Davie
dougster Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 "Cambuslang is not a filling station they opened last Monday but couldnt get a petroleum licence,i should know i ran the job" Is that the Tesco Extra as I dropped off the computer 'server' casing a couple off weeks back.
corsa Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Most likely as it is the only Tesco within a 5mile radius of Cambuslang.Drumsagard village on the road between Blantyre and Halfway but you probably already knew that seeing as how you were there dropping something off.
