fai17 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 I was thinking about putting on a new s/s header and a custom up pipe to turn the VF35 turbo 45 degrees and a new custom down pipe to meet up with the system. It will need a new pipe work for the intake system as well. Will this mod make any difference as the turbo exhaust is flowing better? Will there be any issuse i need to look at? Has anyone done this before with a IHI turbo? Is it a good idea? Thank for any suggestion..
drb5 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 It won't make any difference at all. It's different with Garret turbo's as they (off the shelf) don't have flanges to suit Subaru's and you THEN need to get custom up/down pipes. Basically, unless your running about 450+ power, then you won't really see any difference.
sma01 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 to be honest peter i dont see that making any difference, the vf35 turbo is only rated to 340-350bhp, an even at that it will be starting to strain and the wastegate will chatter. your 2 main options are 1. get the wastegate ported or 2. get a bigger turbo scott
Gumball Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 leave the turbo where it is and turn the car 45degrees. would that not be easier, that was you just need to reverse and steer the car into place rather than footer about with the turbo LOLOLOLOLOLOL>LLOLOLOL>LOL>OL>
sma01 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 "turn the car 45 degrees" pmsl or you could turn it 180 degrees and have the fastest reversing car in the country....lol
Gumball Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 or i could turn mine through an angle of 180degrees then that way i would have to reverse to beat you. but that should be ok
AlanG Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Turning it 45 degrees, you're aiming to remove any inlet restriction, not exhaust.
sma01 Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 smoking in reverse - lol maybe turning it 360 would remove all the restriction??!
Gumball Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 aye as scott mentioned, if you turned it 360' would that not give you 8 times as much power as turning it 45' ???
fai17 Posted August 11, 2005 Author Posted August 11, 2005 you bunch of cunny funts lol lol ololllololll AlanG:Yes that is my aim but would it make any difference and is it worth the bother..
AlanG Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 You would only go down that route if you were looking for serious amounts of horsepower i.e. 450+ (IMO). I don't know what stage of tune you're at just now but if you have std engine internals etc, then the "bother, cost" factor doesn't justify it, there's no need as their are plenty turbos out there to give you up to and over 400bhp in the std turbo position.
jcscoob Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 << leave the turbo where it is and turn the car 45degrees. >> lol VFF
