ian_craig2 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 was thinking of going to kaimes myself but thats sounds pleasant as well mmmmmm
Ken 275 Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Bear in mind it'll be be choccers with touroids with caravans and Traffick Polis. Also the odd illiterate & disorientated G8 wonker. Not much room for bhp. Maybe best to go early morn? Sorry, I'll not be available (other duties), just offering my opinion as a semi-local. K.
dougster Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Bear in mind the A82 will be busy with championship golf on at Loch Lomond and road works at Glen Coe.
scooby222 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 not sure how accurate this is ,but ive heard a rumour that the police are trying the new cats eye gatsos on the a82 between stirling and tyndrum.hope it aint true but just in case...
dougster Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Only a short section? A86, 85 from Stirling up to the 82 section to Tyndrum?? Any futher info from source?
scooby222 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 yup,as far as i know its a short stretch to test it.also coincedentally the most popular section for bikes doing big speeds, theyve been using helicopters for the bikes the last two summers. i heard it through the guys who service my bike but i havent seen anything official im the papers. but if theyre in the cats eyes and they use the timing between two points a mile apart theres no hiding from them, itd ruin one of my favourite roads
Gumball Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 CLEARLY A NO GO AT THIS TIME FORGETTING THE LOCH LOMOND OPENS ON SHOWS ME IM TOO INVOLVED WITH SCOOBY DRIVING
sma01 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 and also cos u will be required for some noising up of neighbours on sunday night too chris
ian_finlayson Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 I drove the a82 yesterday and have to recommend that you dont do this guys. I have never seen it so busy. The roadworks at glencoe caused a near two mile tailback. Absolute nightmare. AND all the tourists were doing the lets look out the side window and not road. Average of 40mph for most of them. I was late for my ferry so had to do some of my worst driving ever, I could almost hear the tut tuts coming from the cars I overtook. I think my best was 6 cars on one long stetch
Gumball Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 this route isnt under any circumstances to be forgotten about though. when the weathers good, the lights right, the tourists are out the way and the golfs finished. ITS PARTY TIME
