WRX Grille - LOWER

If anybody out there wants to fit a lower mesh grille to their 2003 > WRX or STI 4dr or 5dr then the Subaru part number is SECSSE3060. If you look at the Subaru web site it says this part only fits 4dr models and I was told the same thing by my local dealer. However I wasn't happy that the grille wouldn't fit my wagon which after all has the same bumper as a 4dr. A quick 'e' mail to Jim Childs at Cheam Motors and he confirmed that the grille will fit all the above. Fitting is dead easy just remove the number plate - offer the grille into the opening and push it all the way back at one side until the tapered tab at the top locates in the recess at the back of the opening then do the same for the other side! Make sure you locate at the back of the opening as there are also recesses at the front. The fitting instructions show where to fit the supplied screws but after a test fit I decided not to bother as it's rock solid. The front end looks better with both grilles ( in my opinion of course ) and more importantly it protects the lower part of the radiator - don't know why Subaru don't fit them as standard ??

If anybody wants a pic of the fitted grille let me have your 'e' mail address and I'll send it on.

i've got one of those lower grille thingies on my MY03 - see the link at the bottom of this post then go to gallery section.

The pics @ the bottom are the most recent - taken last week with the de-tango'd headlights and the WRC-style grille fitted face-icon-small-happy.gif

i done this before they decided to make mesh themselves, got some stainless stell mesh and done both grills, cheaper and better looking imho as the mesh sits in the bumper and not right out at the front.....and as for fitting....well trade secret, but if you are interested i will let you know

Oh and another top tip, if anyone is replacing the double din stereo...rather than buy a proper scoob pocket get down to a scrappy and get one from a mk3 feista or similar ford from the centre console..its a perfect fit and slot in behind the dash panelface-icon-small-smile.gif

Here we go fellows - Picture.

That's different from what I was expecting, but I'd seen that part listed on a few websites and was never quite sure exactley what it looked like.

A grille of some sort is on my list of possible upgrades, but not top of the list.
