lessels Posted May 19, 2005 Posted May 19, 2005 im thinkin of replacing the td04 turbo on my 99 classic,i have a full decat, ecutek ecu and k&n induction and am wondering whats the best direct bolt on option without too much further mods? any info would be really great!! cheers
Johnny50 Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Hows about speaking to AndyF about one of his Hybrid TD04s ??
fraser_drinkwater Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Yip the hybrid is the way ahead, and with what u got by adding some good spark plugs, there is a recipe for a nippy motta.
jasonb Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 what about a VF23, that made a big difference to my car and you should be able to pick one up for around £250
WUZ Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 TDO5 F/E - good for 340bhp, good spoolup VF34 - same power but better spoolup, ideal for a UK car with a 7000rpm limit! Russell
Johnny50 Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Saying that...i opted for a VF30 in my UK Scoob. Done the job nicely, not as quick on spool up as the 34 was, but it done the job.
Carl Davey Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 If you're not looking to go much further i would personally opt for Andys new Hybrid TD04 and an ECUTek remap. That will take advantage of the decat/filter and shouldn't push the limits of the standard injectors, require raised fuel pressure or force an intercooler change. I'd stick a Walbro (£85) fuel pump in the tank for good measure however. If you do want to go further a FETD05 or one of the larger VF turbos will keep your wallet empty for the next few months.
lessels Posted May 20, 2005 Author Posted May 20, 2005 cheers guys,iv seen the modded td04 on the andy f site if i got that would i need any more mods? and what sort of bhp would that give? (what kind of turbo r u sellin off the sti 7 an is it a straight bolt on job) im gonna see what kind of power iv got on the rollers at dastek first(whatever it is it aint enough!!!!)

Go back to playing with sheep or whatever you do up there Lessels PM me and ill tell you what i did Dave
lessels Posted May 21, 2005 Author Posted May 21, 2005 sorry mate iv not got a clue how to use the PM setting, what do i do?
Carl Davey Posted May 21, 2005 Posted May 21, 2005 He's going to throw it away one way or another. May as well make his car faster while he's doing it. Andy made somewhere in the region of 315-330bhp on his TD04 with various exhaust combinations (i think that was the only variable). I should hope for a nice round 300bhp. More than enough for you standard 4-pots.
lessels Posted May 22, 2005 Author Posted May 22, 2005 according to falkland i have a tek2 chip or remap( i think ) would i be able to bolt the andy f 04 on without another remap? at 400 bucks it seems a good option
Carl Davey Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 You could bolt it on and it would run. Although to get the best from it i'd get Andy to remap your Tek2 as well.
