scientific steve Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 found this in the press and journal just who does this apply to? Motorists in Dundee and Aberdeen enjoy the cheapest car insurance in the country, according to a new survey. The north-east cities topped the car insurance charts after recording a relatively low number of road accidents and claims. Insurance search site www.confused.com claims that the average premiums in Dundee were almost a quarter less than the national average. In Aberdeen, payments are 23.5% below the average of £573.32 which, itself, has dropped by 1.2% since December. Company managing director Kate Armstrong said the price of car insurance was being pushed down by rivalry among supermarkets. She said: "This is great news for drivers who shop around to find a cheaper deal and sends a clear message to the 41% of drivers who stay with their current insurer that loyalty could be costing them hundreds of pounds in unnecessary premiums each year." The study found that, on average, motorists in Aberdeen pay £438.56 for insurance - half that of drivers in Glasgow, where premiums are around £815.51.
