des_curran Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 I'm having a problem with the clutch on a my98 uk 2000, sometimes when i boot it the clutch pedal stays on the floor and i have to lift it up with my foot or it returns up by itself but feels very light, the clutch doesnt appear to be slipping at anytime as i can put it in top gear at 20mph and it picks away with no problems, my mechanic thinks its the master cylinder that needs replacing is this a known fault ? I also want to buy a new exhaust and was thinking of the 6x4 oval magnex what are they like for quality/fit/ect also is it worth fitting de-cat pipes, what sort of gains could be expected from removing one or both the cats ? Cheers
ormiboy Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 hi des mate, i have had the same problem with my clutch. i cured it by lubricating the mechansim down at the pedals with triflow, i would imagine that wd40 would do the same job. worth a try!! but in your case the cylinder could be shot. a few folk on here have the magnex back boxes and seem to rate them pretty well. de-cats are a good idea but think about a remap if you want to fully enjoy the benefits safely. i think that a full de-cat is good for maybe 30 horse extra???? a few on here will clarify with rr figures to back them up take it easy
sma01 Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 my advice would be to speak to duncan at hypertech mate, tell him Scott told you to phone him and he will look after you....... 01324 812212 i should be on intro commission by now
gordon_kerr Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 lovely rip from the magnex exhaust, if i never had the afterburner i would have chosen a magnex, three cats removed from the scooby should be good for about 30 bhp
des_curran Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 Cheers for the advice peeps I'm gona order the magnex system with the 6x4 oval today.
IanJ Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Des, if you are going with the magnex and getting hypertech to fit it. It might be worth giving him a call as he deals in magnex goodies. Ian
des_curran Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 I am not sure if hypertech will be able to fix the clutch master cylinder as the cars got warranty and i need to go to an approved place ! Fitting the magnex aint a problem my m8 is an exhaust fitter and he wants an alpine auto changer i happen to have sitting arround I think i will be giving hypertech a phone though as the place that does my servicing at the moment aint to keen on working on the scoob, there fine with brakes/supension/ect, but he aint really keen on touching the engine.
scientific steve Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 i've got the same exhaust you are looking at getting mate fitted on me MY98 type r an i love it very nice note from it
