imprezapete Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 I just phoned Directline to have them tell me that they dont do insurance for Track days I was so looking forward to going on at knockhill Anyone else had the same problem with them?
wrxmania Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Pete, Virtually nobody will insure track days. You need specialist insurance - do a search - there are two main companies if I remember rightly. Expect to pay roughly £10 for every £1000 insured and the excess will be roughly £1500. Brian
derek_robertson Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Hi Pete, This topic has been covered before, your own insurance covers you as KH trackday is classed as driver training & no timing is used therefore it's non competative.Remember that the instructors are there to help/train etc. You'll probably find most participants don't bother with actual trackday cover,it's entirely up to the individual whether you want to take out extra cover. Hope this helps, Del PS.You now need to wear long sleeved attire on track,it's a fire safety issue.
sKunk Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 I'm sorry, but I do not agree with the post above. Insurance companies do not automatically cover track days, even if you word it as 'driver training' days. Every insurance company I have used, and there have been a few (LV, Privilige, Admiral etc....), have refused to provide cover for just such driver training days after being requested specifically for that kind cover You need specialist insurance if you want cover. I have used these guys in the past with no problems. As stated above you will pay about £10 for each 1k insured: http://www.moris.co.uk/ Have fun and good luck
corsa Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Try a search for competition car insurance and ask for richard eggar, they will cover you.
johns Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Egger Lawson on 0115 941 5255 will provide cover. The SIDC are a recognised track day provider with them. Most insurance policies now specifically exclude track days of any sort in their cover, so if you want to be covered you'll need to take out your own cover at extra cost. I'd say that 80+% of cars on track do not take out extra insurance to go on track and just drive accordingly. Regards John
