Hepy Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 There is a rumour on Scoobynet that Tesco have started selling 99 ron petrol. Was wondering if anyone up here had seen any at their local teso petrol station?
imprezapete Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 na cant say I have, 99ron? hmmm that would put it higher than Optimax
TypeRA28 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Had a wee search using google for this, but could not find anything. However on some other forums, there seems to be some talk of shell replacing Optimax with a new brand called V-Power. This is already available abroad, and is 100 RON. But don't get too excited, I couldn't find any information on this directly from Shell, so it may just be idle gossip. If anyone hears anymore, keep us updated.
wrxmania Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I'd settle for 35p per litre Optimax - the RON rating will do me
Gumball Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 that would be good. To be honest im not sure whether optimax or ultimate is better. i just had a look across the world wide web and folk have seriously diferent opinions regarding fuel and what should fill a scooby I use optimax cos-everyone else does. however is it better for my car? dont know. just saw a post on a random site by a guy claiming his mate works as a scooby mechanic and says optimax is BAD for your engine. He didnt back it up with hard facts but im starting to become unsure on what to use for the STI
allan_thorne Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Up here in Scotland Optimax and Ultimate is the exact same Fuel also it is the exact same additive now to make everything legal and for SHell to be able to sell it as a different product Less additive is added to Shell. Now you can all come back with you own opinions on this one but trust me this is fact.
clutdav Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 << Up here in Scotland Optimax and Ultimate is the exact same Fuel also it is the exact same additive now to make everything legal and for SHell to be able to sell it as a different product Less additive is added to Shell. Yes both fuels have a cleaning additive added to them - but I think you are missing the point that BP Ultimate Unleaded has a RON rating of 97, and Shell Optimax has a RON rating of 98. Now, originally Ultimate was supposed to be a high performance fuel and was to be released as a 99-100RON fuel. However, at the last minute BP changed their minds and basically released it as a Super Unleaded replacement. Dave

dave_morgan Posted May 1, 2005 Posted May 1, 2005 Apparently they're doing trials in the South East, and if it's popular they'll roll it out around the country. 90.9p / litre.
