dave_morgan Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Looking to get some dedicated track tyres for the P1 as my "home made slicks" are getting a tad thin now to be useable to/from the track. Anyone have any recommendations for : 1 - What to get 2 - Where to get them locally (or mail order if necesary). The tyres that are on are 205/45/17. Thanks Dave
andy_robertson Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 try blackcircletyres.com and if its racing slicks you want def go for pirelli p zero nero's dont last long like any slicks but really grip the road in any weather!

Sent blackcircles a ,ail about the above and that i heard the SIDC were getting a discount so could they supply a quote, got the quote back today and it was actually dearer asking for a discount than going on there web site and just buying out right, has sent another mail and wait to see what there reply is. Cheers Dougie

IanJ Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Dave, Toyo 888's seem to be getting a very good write up. Circuit Driver did a back to back with them and a few others on a 968 club sport and they came out the best all round tyre (Even offering reasonable grip in the wet!) and for value for money i don't think you can fault them. They reckoned if you wanted a better dry tyre then get slicks. Jim Dickson quoted me £350 for 4 for the 924S (16" boxster wheels on it, can't remember the exact sizes) Ian
johns Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Dave, have a word with Ronnie at Wheels Around. He can get any tyre you want from full slick to fully legal road tyre and everything in between. Free fitting at our Knockhill events as well! The Pirelli things that Del tried at the last event were very good. I tried the Dunlops. They were probably closer to a road tyre than a track tyre, but offered more grip, better feedback, still enough tread to clear standing water. They weren't that great on a greasy surface, but you can't expect them to be brilliant in every department. John
