Popping

Got my Nur Spec R fitted on thurs. My standard exhaust would pop occasionally when lifting off clutch after changing down gear. The Blitz does it all the time without fail. It sounds great, but is it something to worry about.(too rich?) Cars a P1. It is NOT decatted.

The car is a P1. Totally standard apart from the Nur Spec R.

Sorry Im a biff, never read you post correctly. Your popping is nothing that wouldnt occure anyway I would be surprised if you are running rich especially with no downpipe if you have the cat still on. Its probably just more noticeable with your new exhaust. The map your ecu has will fuel okay as long as you have no other mods which will affect the way the car breathes. The only time she will run rich is when the engines cold or when you are flat out ball to the wall and even then it will only be slightly richer. If you are convinced its defo not fuelling properly then have your AFR checked.

Let just assume this is a 2000 P1. This means that the o2 sensor is nearly 5 years old. If it starts to die, the ECU will read less than the Stoichiometric 0.7-0.8 volts for off-boost driving, think the car is running lean and add more fuel. If the Lambda dies alltogether the ECU sees 0 volts and to overfuels to compensate as it is not sure of the AFR so it plays it safe.

This is an option, especially on 5 year old cars. A quick check with a wideband Lambda will be fine, AFR check using existing Lambda will work as well but not as good as a wideband.

Dont worry about it my terzo pops and backfires like mad.Its still running the cats and has a ssq dump valve.Its also fitted with a ninja back box and sometimes spits flames.

I get nice pops ( with all cats & just a WR Sport BB & unresonated section) from my bugeye - they ain't massive but i can induce them at will i.e slow down and dip clutch. Also get them when i fire her up sometimes.....

New mods coming plus my DV should be..........
