dad Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Been looking over a few threads about the driver training days. By all accounts, seems to be top quality! previous training day .Anyone else had experiences with driver training? I would love to take part in one of these and have 4 other friends that are well keen too Would anybody else be up for this? also seen this SIDC flyer so I presume it?s in the pipeline soon
martinl Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 If I'm home I would be up for it. I also phoned Knockhill and they would give me 25 laps in my car, one to one instruction for £73. Didnt think that was too bad. Martin

dad Posted April 6, 2005 Author Posted April 6, 2005 just spoke to another couple of mates and they would be into it
martinl Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 realistically I think about a hour, it is a pupil - teacher session, I would hope we would be stopping for a bit of costructive shouting at !!!!! I managed to get that price by mentioning SIDC and Town & County ABN. Martin
evojkp Posted April 7, 2005 Posted April 7, 2005 I've done both of these days a while back and both are very good, but very different. Knockhill...excellent if you want to do trackdays. The amount you learn in the 25 laps if a first timer is very good. Corner speeds, positioning, apex, braking points, brake fade and car balance all with vitually no wear and tear to the car. 1st Lotus @ Crail....superb day. Andrew is a top bloke and teaches the basics of hand positioning, cornering speed, apex clipping (using understeer to correct if you are too early into the corner) drifting, proper use of ABS..be prepared to ruin a set of tyres on this day, as the techniques for practising the moves if done correctly will 'Scrub' them, especially on Crails joke of a surface. I'd be up for adding to your numbers for some refresher training and a bit of a laugh. ...John
