Marky-San Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Folks, My little civic is idling at 2,000 revs and then starts 'hunting' between 1000 and 1800 rapidly. Forgetting its not a subaru - does anyone know what could be the problem? I know its a more general car problem. Any help appreciated. Marky PS - tried 2 Honda forums and got 2 replies but nothing specific, hence my return to the techno-people
wilky Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Is the honda motor drawing air from anywhere it shouldnt? Split pipe, gasket etc?
ozzy Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 not sure what the civic's engine is like, but most cars should use a MAF and Lambda sensors (later more for idling) just like the Scoob. I get both check with a Honda dignostic tool. My Dad's Vectra was doing the same and narrowed it down to his MAF. I would start with the O2 sensor first though.
Marky-San Posted March 30, 2005 Author Posted March 30, 2005 Cheers guys, I knew I could count on you. I'll check the piping. Get one of those diagnostic tools from Halfords and see what it says. Might nip to my mums and pull the sensors of that car and try them - hopefully should mean I dont waste money on an unnessary sensor? Marky-San
