gordon_kerr Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 I posted a thread a while back to say about the noise i had coming from the rear drivers side wheel, if the noise had not been so distinct from the wheel i would have thought the exhaust was trailing on the ground ( that will let you know what type of noise it is) I took it in to my mate to get it checked out and after stripping down the wheel he found a small stone had managed to get in through the backing plate of the brake calipers, it is unreal how such a small stone can make such a loud noise!!! Anyhow, the same noise reappeared this morning as usual loud as hell, only this time i knew what i was looking for, sure enough another small stone, i removed the stone and everything fine again, on the back of the backing plate there is a small gap which i assume is to allow air in to help cool the brakes, this is clearly where the stones are getting in, has anyone experienced this before and has anyone any suggestions how to remedy this problem, all comments welcome!!!! jambo
p3dro Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Never had the problem or know of anyone who has either Maybe your special LOL
colin_ross Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Had it with the front wheels a couple of times on my old uk turbo. Also came accross a guy ready to strip the hub assembly at knockhill at a top marques night a few years ago with the same problem. I guess they're just prone to it.
wrxmania Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 I am sure Stevo-STI had a stone in his suspension area within the wing/cowling I think causing similar noise but not had it myself anywhere. Unusual one. Brian
