Jimmy Mc Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Hi Dudes, Will be selling my bike in June and getting another car. Would REALLY love another Impreza but I can't seem to get decent insurance quotes. Apparently Tower are really good for Jap imports but you can't get a quote off them unless you have history with them, which is sh*t. Have been quoted under £1000 for a Supra Twin Turbo J-Spec so might have to see if I can afford one of those instead! Does anyone have any solutions? I need another Scoob!
andy_bray Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Hi Jimmy , I got my insurance from CONFUSED.com and fully comp on my STI is just over £500 .. Hope this helps M8...
Jimmy Mc Posted March 23, 2005 Author Posted March 23, 2005 Been quoted £950.00 on a UK Turbo, £1100 on an RB5 and can't get any quotes for Jap imports. I'll have to see what I can do because I don't want a UK Turbo.
Jimmy Mc Posted March 23, 2005 Author Posted March 23, 2005 If you have two cars do you have to get 2 insurance policies or can you have them both on one? I want to keep my diesel Xantia for work and have another car for evenings/weekends, how can I do this?
Cret Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 You need two separate policies dude which means building up a second no claims bonus from scratch for the second vehicle. Another way that insurance companies can steal our hard earned money, after all you can only drive one vehicle at a time so why would you need a completely separate policy rather than adding on the same one like a trader can have. It stinks! Try doing a search on here & scoobynet for insurance issues as it'll be a topic that loads of people have discussed so with a bit of digging you should be able to find the best places. You could always get a twin turbo Legacy dude. 280bhp - still get the scoob noise and cheaper insurance!
Jimmy Mc Posted March 23, 2005 Author Posted March 23, 2005 Cheers Jim dude, if I can't afford another jap impreza i'll be getting a Supra Twin Turbo hopefully. Been quoted £941 fully comp on a jap import, seems reasonable for 300bhp+. Very reliable too.
Cret Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Bizarre that they'll quote you less on a more powerful car with worse handling!
Jimmy Mc Posted March 23, 2005 Author Posted March 23, 2005 Admiral has just made my day! Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type R 2 door - £934.00 fully comp (that's £1300 less than I used to pay on my WRX!!) But they can also cover a Supra TT AND my Xantia for £1000. Will have to see what cars are available when I sell my bike!!
Cret Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Yay for Admiral! Get yourself down the impreza shop! There's a WRX on manx.net for 4 grand...
