RB5_IOM Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 Just posted this on the forums. got the below reply from scoobynet. "Just coming home in my scooby and I put my foot down. The car got to 4000rpm and then the power cut out and the engine light came on. It feels like the car is been starved of fuel. I am running a RB5 with a Tek3 and Sti Fuel pump. Help needed ASAP " GOT THIS REPLY you don't need to take it to the dealer yet, first find out whats wrong (the dealer may charge you best part of 20 bucks for 5 minutes work). once you know whats wrong you can then decide if you can fix it yourself or get the dealer involved. this is the site with the full instrctions and error codes http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co.uk/Sco...Diag%20Page.htm Has anyone tried reading the error codes themselves or is it a dealer thing. Do you think Southcoast could help/fix. Do you know if Southcoast has a machine to read the ECU??? Cheers
Cret Posted February 22, 2005 Posted February 22, 2005 I've done them plenty of times on my Legacy but not on an impreza. The plugs should be pretty much the same though mate. You need to get access to all the wiring around the steering column by removing any dash panel that might be in the way then looking for for a pair of single wires with green connectors and a pair with black connectors. I couldn't say if this is the same for all years and dunno what year yours is but it might clarify stuff like that on that link. You need to find those connectors then take it from there. See if you can find them then post back on here if you get stuck. They can be a bugger to locate but they should be there and could save you an expensive trip to the garage.
WRX IOM Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 that looks complicated!!! What else did other people say on Scoobynet?
Cret Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 It's really not that bad. The hardest bit is finding the read/memory test (Ie black & green connectors) then it's easy, and looking for a few wire connectors in a dash isn't really a matter of rocket science. Give me a shout if you get stuck!
dooahhdoo Posted February 23, 2005 Posted February 23, 2005 I have a ton of work on at the moment otherwise I would show you how to do it m8 As Cret says it isn't that hard. The hardest part is trying to write out the code it spits out
RB5_IOM Posted February 23, 2005 Author Posted February 23, 2005 Thanks. I am in the UK this week and will give it a go at the weekend. WRX IOM: People mentioned different possible faults, but this was the best way to find out my specific fault.
